Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Re Papa doubt it is anything about Parra and all about NZ.
Last 2 off seasons he has been hit with COVID restrictions, this year he has the RLWC.
That will be 3yrs or so without being around his family / partners family.
That takes a toll on the best of everyone regardless of the contract he signed.

This will be a bloody important test for Benji about setting us up as a family club on how he navigates around this one. If we keep Papa and he plays well no doubt Papa will need some extended time off after the RLWC or something like that to go back to NZ.

Borders were opening again when he signed man....
Anything he can come up with be all but an excuse not to be here.

If he goes to the Warriors - We're getting someone....
Curran makes sense.
I can't see us holding him here in that instance.

Still think it would be his plan b not to come here...
But you can't begrudge a man his family.

The Gm for football at Parra has said on SEN that he would honour the Contract.
Thats all the GM can say at this stage .. gotta go with the statement for now .. wait UNTILL the GF is over then the GM will be saying that Isaiah Papali'i has elected to stay with the Slimies .. !!

O'Neil can say whatever he likes after GF day. He can declare Papali'i walks on water, it doesn't matter. IP has signed a binding contract and, unless WT fold like a deck chair, he is our player in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

It would be frustrating to let one of the best second rowers in the game go in exchange for Curran.

Would weaken our squad significantly.

To release him I’d want Tohu Harris and Fonua-Blake.

Why, why and why ? How many trades happen in the NRL - the correct answer is they don't.

I can't believe people are still falling for this dribble.

He has a contract with us for the next 3 years. He plays here or he doesn't play.
It’s ok , we will get Lee on to him . As we have seen in the past he is fearless when it come to sticking up for this club!!!!🙂🙂🙂:

Know they were opening when he signed but he didn't get a chance to enjoy that as they opened after the season kicked off & NRL protocols for squad players didn't change until April/May timeframe.

Sure there have been 6mths between but again being able to shoot across mid week on on bye weeks isn't easy for players to do.

As to us getting someone that player has to agree to wanting to move across to Sydney, It wouldn't surprise me if it's a case of Papa plays 23 and then moves to NZ 24 onwards giving us sometime to use his cash in the buyers market. Would suck but could also see that playing out. Might be why we are willing based on reports to spend 20%+ of our cap on Munster & Mosses.

Just saying the family side could be a real factor in this which I can understand very well.

This is a massive test for Benji and how his persuasive skills play out let alone for new players he has to convince to bring across.

I’m just hopeing that as soon as the season of over he fully commits to tigers
Do you think winning a gf or losing a gf is better for ip at eels. I know there's a contract etc but what do we think would actually be better , Id say winning. Go out on a high having achieved pinnacle with the club etc.

How can the GM of Football for Parramatta, regardless of who he is speak on his behalf.
All this means is they are planning to farewell him from Parramatta at the end of the season.

I still think the move to Warriors is on.

Otherwise he would say when the seasons done I’ll have a break and get ready for off season with Tim and Benji.

Instead he keeps saying he will sit down and talk about his options with his Manager.

The silence from everyone else, I feel is because it has been determined but respectfully cannot be announced until all parties are available for comment.

Great Test for out leadership.

Lets not forget we have one of the Best, Brightest Legal minds as our chairman.

I am fairly confident that Papa will be at the Tigers after his last game for Parra this week.
