Isaiah Papali’i #265

The point being, in spite of all the handwringing by the bed wetter here, the board and management of Tigers never publicly said he would sit it out. The all publicly said he is coming. Just as I did weeks ago. The rest is made up

Understand that - But recent history certainly shows it never works out for us....
And we've also been lied to about players contracts before.
My issue was with his body language and the fact that Parra were trying to get him to stay - To the point where the coach there publicly said "he had contract stuff he was working through with his manager".
I also thought the club would do it's usual nothing until it was all too late.

There was certainly something to it all...
That said, He's still not here....

Im glad he's finally committed but he could have put it to bed months ago. My take on it is he was privately agitating behind the scenes within Parra and with his manager, but we obviously stood solid for once. Hopefully we can all move on and i can imagine the types he had in his ear Matterson, Moses ect He doesnt seem like the brightest spark so you prob have to give him the benefit of the doubt. Hope he lives up to his word and he's all in.

I'll disagree with you on that Glocky, you tell a journalist who has a talking roll on FOX and it may as well be publicly spoken, unless of course you had an understanding with that particular journo and told him it was off the record.
Who knows? it may have served its intention? which was to get back to Arthur and his manager perhaps? If Pascoe told you that he never said any such thing then fine, but that's not the case is it?

You're right about that, he isn't here.

Well now that we have confirmed that Api and Papa have committed it changes this years team from ordinary to promising.
I'm confident that Pole will continue to improve and along with Blore we suddenly have some depth. Both those players have great RL body shapes and determination.
We can't beat the top teams without a decent engine so I'm hoping the rumours about Newcastle forward David Klemmer comes to fruition and partners big Stefano.

In the foxsports video yesterday it was announced that Papa is definately coming to the tigers.
He said he didn't want to cause unrest within Parra team because of the GF.
He also said the club (WT) knew why he was announcing it after the GF.
THAT STILL DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.
If he knew he was coming to the WT, so did the coach, the players and heaps of other people capable of spreading gos.
If anything, all that secrecy and uncertainty would have had the opposite effect on the eels, especially to those players staying on in 2023.
Well it's all out there now. Start wearing the White, Black and Gold clobber Papa and get used to it.
Get on the Mobility Scooter.

“I can understand why some people weren't happy, but the people who needed to know at the Tigers knew what my plans were,” Papali'i told the Sydney Morning Herald.

“I've been in contact with (Sheens) throughout the year. I didn't want my individual talks to worry the (Eels) group given the opportunity we had.

“I'm looking forward to the challenge in 2023 and the three years I've got at the Tigers. I'm all in. I'll be putting as much effort in there as I did at this club, that's a promise.”

Well that makes sense, but what doesn’t is the bluster from the board indicating an alternative sit out?
Is the board now only given information they need to know?
As I guessed he was just focussing on Parras finals... Someone asked me "if Api can confirm why can't Papalii"
Everyone's different... Everyone prepares their own way... I wonder how many pro athletes we have here... Just one?

Can understand that for sure....
Almost certain it backfired on him spectacularly though!!

Understood....
But - the way kent said it, was like he just asked him in passing....

I immediately thought,
Surely - after all the shit canning you've been giving him all year, You don't ring him up and go "Hey mate, How's the family? What's news at the club?"
Don’t forget he broke bread with Buzz and co at Grappa. Tigers are on a much needed PR mission .

Cobar, I fear you are basing a lot of that on hope rather than actual evidence. Neither Blore or Pole have ever played one game at the level the good clubs forwards play most weeks. As a fan that’s your prerogative. Unfortunately I fear our leaders within the club often do the same.

That's right they haven't, exciting days ahead. Get on the mobility scooter baggers.
