Also gives the Roosters an additional feeder team in each age group.
Lol. But true.
That could be a new thread. Who will the roosters poach next?

It would be a welcome change from all the parents of kids that inhabit the Junior Reps threads (pretending to be fans, like who goes to those games as fans lol ? )

I wholeheartedly disagree.

Firstly how is this divide, or perception of a divide hurting the club. It isn’t. It’s just something old fans throw around on two bit forums. It doesn’t effect the team one iota. The only way it holds the club back is through inaction re choosing between inner west and south west.

Secondly, how often do you hear Roosters supporters or Cronulla supporters moan about having to accomodate Norths or Newtown? Never. How much interest would there be in a stand alone reggies game if it weren’t for the brilliant carnival atmosphere brought by Newtown at Henson, Norths at Bear Park and Western Suburbs at Lidcombe. I’m also reliably informed by Magpies officials that the sale of merch makes a hefty contribution. This would be considerably reduced if the Magpies senior side was pushed down to Massey Cup. And for what? Because it just doesn’t feel right ? 🥴

As for the junior reps - why cut our representation in half. I can’t imagine the NSWRL copping us fielding two WT teams in both junior comps. As it is, our model is so advantageous, the Roosters copied it by sneaking in a second Matt’s Cup team under the Central Coast banner. If in the future our club were to actually decide on one area to represent ... then it may become a valid point of discussion, but we’d only be gifting rival clubs a swag of young talent.

I hear this argument occasionally thrown up by mostly old Balmain fans (funny that), but on closer analysis it has way more negatives attached than positives.
And I wholeheartedly agree with you.
I saw a photo in the South West Voice News and Views in Macarthur web site of a Wests Tigers autographed Jersey being auctioned in aid of the Families of the Picton High School pupils killed in the horrific road accident recently.
It was being displayed by John Skandalis and showed the traditional black and white Magpies V with a thin outline of orange/gold then a narrow band of gold on the sleeves and waist and it looked perfect for our jerseys in the near future.
And lets face it folks, this is how our jersey colours should be.
90% black and white with 10% orange/gold as our club is 90% owned by Wests Ashfield representing Wests Magpies and only the remaining token 10% owned by the Balmain side of the JV.
Furthermore, it'll only be when the rusted-on Balmain supporters realise the inevitability of this that the bickering will stop, and I'm sure the reasonable and sensible Balmain supporters would have already come to terms with this.
Also, with our State election due in March 2023 the Mayor of Campbelltown is putting pressure on the NSW Liberal Govt to provide the $$$ funds for a massive up-grade to Campbelltown Stadium.
It cant be anything else but a winning combination for Wests Tigers.

True, I just like the days when we had the three games on game day, JF, Reserve Grade or U23's and FG
when all grades a wests tigers I might give a toss, while our reserve grade is called Western Suburbs Magpies I couldn't give a rats.
Hope Ashfield changed this to wests tigers in the near future

You trying to get me in trouble JT. 🤣

In the mean time this thread needs to go to sleep and we try to salvage whatever harmony the joint venture has left.
Those like me who want Weststigers to succeed as it was originally intended can only put our heads in the sand and hope it all goes away, if we don't we end up offending people. Damned if we do and damned if we dont speak up.

I wouldn’t mind the club resurrecting the Wests Tigers reserve grade team, but not at the expense of the Magpies team. It would be great to have both, whereby one is filled by Local South West boys and men looking for an additional pathway to first grade / stay and play for their area in the highest level without going professional.
The Wests Tigers reserve grade team should be made up of promoted Flegg players and remaining contracted top 30 / Dev players.
This would give us the greatest range of talent to choose from and would provide a supporting option for supporters of Balmain, Wests Magpies Inner West, South West and fans that follow & support junior pathways progression.

Who thinks we are going great , first spoon our reserve grade side about the same .Recruitment is difficult so what's the plan ,keep the same formula and get a different result ? Maybe CHANGE a few things like One Club One name at least NRL - CUP - FLEGG can keep ball and matts side whatever .
Basically the Wests Tigers football club has one team .
Combined it holds the 2nd most premierships since 1908
Rabbits 21 , Balmain/Wests /WT 16 Dragons 15 Chooks 15 Dogs 8
Should be proud but I only support one club called Wests Tigers and think if club is totally focussed on that and not the past we get Pride ,Identity and desirability for top players . Penrith for all their success have won 4 premierships in 54 years of 1st grade .we are 4 times that

Lol.
Sounds like the views of a rusted on Maggie supporter.
I’ll bet you hate that we are called the Tigers…. and their colour.
Also conveniently forgetting who saved Wests at the time we merged.

it would some of the rusted on Maggie supporters annoy every time being called Tigers
20 years on we are one club now all grades should be wests tigers

Well Sheens is running the show. Its what he did last time around and almost destroyed Wests Magpies.

Jesus mate, give it a rest.
And Cobar, I think you started the argument this time.

I remember that. Sheens did do that. Even before combining the reserve grade teams, he had all the NRL contracted players playing for Balmain Ryde Eastwood.
Apparently this was an issue for Wests Magpies supporters back then as their team was seen as inferior.
Possibly the same would happen again. But really I do believe that WTs as a professional organisation are missing out on an opportunity to be unified by trying to keep a number of unaffiliated (no supporter connection to WTs) magpies fans appeased.
So why not have both?
It’s too confusing at the moment.
