Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I'm not against it either....

Wonder who plays 1 though?
Staines ? 🤦🏻
Exactly my point. We all feel Laurie has further potential and needs an improved go forward by both backs and forwards to show his attacking capabilities.
Defence 50/50 but can be improved.
So why would we watch that player walk away, for Staines, I don’t get it.

Must have something in mind eh...
Hopefully something better than Staines.

They running a 40 man squad next year? I've never known a club to sign so many players.
Firstly, not everyone they’ve talked to has signed so they are playing a bit of a game with the other clubs( it’s called Gusball) and imo trying to get clubs to back off certain players going to the Dogs.
Then they have an easier negotiation than if there’s a pack of hungry dogs( pardon the pun) milling around.
Ciraldo knows Laurie from the panthers so there is a link there and knowing we have only offered him a one year deal see an opportunity.
The ball is now back in our court as to whether we up the deal or let him go.
It just seems like they are signing everyone but when the dust settles it will interesting to see who has actually signed who. And that includes us.

The Turbo brothers were up in arms when Barrett was punted but quickly got over it. They are all under contract and have no Des clauses in their contracts, so I guess they are going nowhere.

Jake is starting to be less effective, Tom has hamstring and leg issues and the young bloke is solid at best. Personally the beast they have in the backrow would be my first choice and Garrick and Parker could do a job for us

The Wests Tigers are facing a fight to keep Daine Laurie at the club after confidential was told that the Bulldogs were ready to weigh in with a lucrative offer for the fullback.

Laurie has been offered a one-year extension by the Tigers but his management is holding out for a longer-term deal. That has left the door open for Canterbury to make a move as they look to fill their void in the No.1 jersey.

The Bulldogs have also been linked with a big-money play for Penrith centre Stephen Crichton to play fullback as the Panthers juggle their finances in a bid to keep Crichton, Brian To’o and Liam Martin.

They may be forced to sacrifice Crichton to keep the other two, although they would do so reluctantly. It may hinge on what direction the Bulldogs take with the fullback position.

The club has been unable to nail down a player to fill the No.1 jersey. Matt Dufty, Corey Allen and Jake Averillo have all had a shot without making it their own.

Laurie looms as an option given the status of his talks with the Tigers, who are in the market for a handful of players as they look to ensure Tim Sheens, Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah have the artillery to climb the ladder next year. (Brent Read, DT)

If they were throwing bags around we would have got Munster.
No I don’t think we would have. The Dolphins proved that an extra million couldn’t get him and we supposedly gazumped them, and he stayed put.
I think that whilst money is important to some it’s not the be all and end all.
The Manly Ts are a bit like that, local juniors, been there all their life, living in a sort of rarified atmosphere, totally different from say a Moses going from us to Parra.
They are on a good deal and imo they will stick.

Siebold is very bright and knows the game...he runs plays / coaches like an NFL coach.

Which can be a great, innovative, thing...or a disaster.

He has his teams, much like in the NFL, run set plays to set positions on the field. I.e. his fullbacks and wingers can't simply regather kicks and run back. They need to run to spots he has determined the opp are weakest.

In theory, this is smart. In reality, it is incredibly restrictive and the Broncs players HATED not being able to play what they saw / had to run his plays.

Will be very interesting at Manly...will need absolutely everyone on the same page. I can't see a lot of them buying in.

Re the Turbo bros coming to us...zero chance. None.
Brian Smith like this style of coaching as well

We're obviously not sold on Laurie, he's been decent at times but not someone who you'd push the boat out for. Im guessing we have someone else in mind for 24 which is why we are only willing to go an extra year. Maybe Staines fills the gap for the time being or maybe we just hold on to him next year regardless let him go in 24.
