Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

So if Madden gone , Brooks gone , Jacko as lock ( Sheens preference)
Douehi where ?
What is our halves combination ?
As usual the departure lounge is full but the arrivals gate is quiet

What absolute rubbish.
You can’t buy loyalty, so why pay for it? Why place a monetary value on it?
No doubt Brooks had offers from other clubs. The club paid what was required to retain him (as was determined by the market). Just because you don't agree with it doesn't make the club's decision incorrect. Do the names of Tedesco, Moses and Woods sound familiar?

Brooks should sit tight wait and see which one of Moses and or Dylan Brown might leave parramatta, he would he much better placed going there ein 2024 than Newcastle

On the rumour re: Brooks to Newcastle for $300K, we have got some quality players coming on board for 2023. IMO we're still short by 3 players on what we need to be a lock for the 8, but since there's been some decent signings, I'd like to see us not sabotage our season before it's started by paying Brooks upwards of $600K to play somewhere else. If we were footing the $300K for him to go to Newcastle, that's a much better outcome.

If we're getting next to nix for him to play somewhere else, it's not worth it especially if the destination club is apparently "desperate" for him. If it goes ahead like that anyone involved in signing that deal off needs to be sacked on the spot.

When it comes to spinning the narrative to suit the agenda it means everything. That is money owed to him.

It is money owed to him, but it's still $1m out of the cap. Whether its backloaded or not, that's the apparent impact he has on our cap for 2023. It doesn't matter if he goes elsewhere, he's not getting a cent less than what he is owed, it just depends who pays what, and FTR I just posted if the deal is anywhere near to what has been reported, that's an abhorrent decision and everyone involved in signing that off ought to be dismissed immediately.

$1.1 mill is earmarked for Brooks next year regardless..its a sunk cost.
We either use the majority of thos $$ on Klemmer....or stick with Brooks at full freight and repeat recent years dismal performances(appreciate other factors involved)
Desperately need forward leadership and go forward,so Klemmer better bang for WTs buck in immediate future, particularly if we cant attract any other sizable props like Leuinu
Hastings can sort out playmaking and kicking much better than Brooks from whatever position he plays

Paying Brooks $300K to play elsewhere for $800K cap relief is a smart proposition.

Paying Brooks $800K to play elsewhere for $300K cap relief is insanity.

Must be true if twitter said it

There has been suggestions Sheens is working on a Chris Lawrence type deal with Brooks which would be a great outcome for both parties. Brooks' contract reflects market forces at the time which resulted in Moses, Tedesco and Woods departing.

If he's renegotiating to stay for $4-500K a year for the next 3 years, go nuts. That's good value for him.

Anything above that is not remunerative of what he offers.

Arent heavily backloaded contracts banned? If Brooks is on over a 1mill next year that is simply because his manager negotiated a good deal for him over the course of his contract.
