On the rumour re: Brooks to Newcastle for $300K, we have got some quality players coming on board for 2023. IMO we're still short by 3 players on what we need to be a lock for the 8, but since there's been some decent signings, I'd like to see us not sabotage our season before it's started by paying Brooks upwards of $600K to play somewhere else. If we were footing the $300K for him to go to Newcastle, that's a much better outcome.

If we're getting next to nix for him to play somewhere else, it's not worth it especially if the destination club is apparently "desperate" for him. If it goes ahead like that anyone involved in signing that deal off needs to be sacked on the spot.

I'd rather he plays Ressies than goes to Newcastle for 300k back....
We can't buy a player of that calibre for 300k

All the reporters for a year have had a crack at Brooks to Newcastle
Rothfield, Hooper, Read, Bishop, Kent
As pom said klemmer coming here has nothing to do with Brooks contract and I doubt 2023 we would release him
I hope if in 2024 he ends up at Newcastle they make the 8, behind a good pack Brooks is a good halfback.
Interesting Newcastle are not bashing the door down for Hastings

Pretty much every other half in the NRL has played NRL finals, so yeah halves in general are worth more than that. Our boy Luke on the other hand...

The move provided the $$ and terms are fair is a no brainer. I'd ask em to throw in Klemmer and Dominique Young even if we need to throw in $$

There'll be plenty of other players on our books that won't play finals.

If they want Brooks-and if Sheens is happy to release him-they pay the lot. We should not subsidise a red cent. No idea what's being proposed for a Klemmer transfer-if we're chasing him at all!

Don't you think they will pay it out of this year's cap they have until 1 November pay it get it done could be the smartest way to do it and the club has to spend the cap anyway

If Brooks wants out, than the club must sit down with the Knights and do a deal that is weighted in our favour, but they have to get it done.

It would be a disaster to have your no7 not wanting to be at the club. Iam sure they could find another seven that would fill the gap for a year or two

I am not in or out of the Brooks camp, but everyone has to be 100% behind Sheens and his vision for the near future and it would appear Brooks has other plans. Of course it could all be fake news spread by the old drunk and his mates at the DT and Fox

The comment you made that "Brooks recently stated he would be thinking about himself this time" suggests he did display loyalty to the club by staying. The rumours of a Chris Lawrence type deal also requires a degree of loyalty.

Someone said he purchased a house up in Newcastle at the beginning of the year or late last year he has a child now maybe it's best for him moving forward but I would love to have him coached by Sheenius he would use his speed in attacking plays
