Hastings at halfback could work if you had a decent fast 5/8th. Brooks and Douhie arnt it for mine. Not sure what to do with Douhie.talented but got some issues to work out still.

I don't know why Hastings gets written off as the halfback when the other two (3 if you include Laurie) haven't done much at all.

I think Hastings can work with either of those players. If we had a pack that smashed teams every so often I think Hastings at 7 can work.

Losing Musgrove,our only forward with any fear factor(tho he only demonstrated it once or twice each year),on top of Tamou,surely suggests weve signed a couple of props...?
Not sure how we can announce departures but not arrivals..has me perplexed..?

Good defences shut Hastings down quickly when he played 7. Marshall and Sheens from what I read want pace in the halves.

The critism is based on that period where he'd touch the ball a hundred times and we hardly scored any points.

Good luck getting less touches from Jackson at half-back.

The one confirmed sheens input last year was Jackson at 13 I doubt that changes.

I don't agree on Hastings being shut down quickly. He made some mistakes and wasn't perfect but he was better in my opinion than Brooks and Doueihi and it's not close.

I agree that Marshall and Sheens appear to want Hastings as a 13 and have Brooks and Doueihi basically as running 6's on each side of the ruck.

They may have got it wrong though. They may also change their mind because players get injured and/or players perform better than expected.

We don't know how this will all fall out which is really poor because I think our spine has been an issue for a number of seasons. We just can't get it right.

We also can't get the forwards right. I'm less worried about the outside backs. If the forwards and spine play well we will improve a lot.

I reckon we'll get Bateman. whether he starts or comes off the bench is another matter but I think he'll be in the 17. I think Talau is probably best starting the year off in Cup, especially if he's moving to the back row.

Sheens believes he is a 13. I don't think you will see him in the 7 again at this club unless there is a crisis.

Earl, I read an interesting article which advised Sheens believes you may get 7 (I recall) chances to score in a game and you need to convert 4 of those to win. To take full advantage, you need pace at 7 and 6.

Fair call. They may have it right as well but like I said lots can change and we'll have to see what happens.

I doubt Brooks will be released.

We have let Madden go and don’t have a back up half to come in for injuries.

All teams need to consider this and we are no different. We’ll end up with a Brooks, Doueihi and Hastings rotation depending on form/injuries.

Musgrove gone means something is brewing. Hopefully we’ll release Peachey as well which will make it 3 spots remaining.

The salary cap announcement will put pressure on the player market though.

Lol - pretty small sample - we only won 4 games. But i can play your game - we lost 8 games with Hastings at 7 and only 7 games with Brooks at seven. Add to that we won 2 games with Brooks at 6 and only 1 game with Douehi at 6. Really all that proves is that all 3 of our halves are pretty shit.

What’s the win % comparison?

It’s a shit team that’s why we didn’t win many games but most of them were won with Hastings at 7 and MOM in at least 2 of them IIRC.

Put the number 7 that played for Australia in the weekend in our team this year and I doubt we win any more games.

Didnt one of the ITK crowd mention a little while ago they heard a couple of fan favorites were in the mix. I hope he didnt mean Dora, although at the time wasnt specified if it was a former Tiger.

We’ve released a lot of the dead wood which is great but we need some arrivals.

Klemmer and Bateman would be nice. Not sold on Bateman but we don’t really have any established second rowers apart from Ice.

The mail seems to be that Brooks and Klemmer will swap clubs on agreed salary of $800K per year. Tigers will then front a further $300K for Brooks to play at the Knights.

So if we are paying Brooks $300K to play somewhere else, how does that sit with everyone?

So they want Brooks early and they want us to a) agree to release Brooks early and b) pay $300k of his salary next year…..😂😂😂😂 …two words. F……O…..
