Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Mate - I thought you'd have a break down. Hopefully we let Brooks go for next season.

We need a Leb in the halves but not Moses.
mate dissapointed if brooks leaves for 2024 but cant blame him if he chases the cash and it is not like sheens didnt want him so there is a difference
2024 halves pairing of Moses and Laurie
centres Naden and Douhie
Hastings at lock
Not too bad a side

Klemmer deal seems just a formality but with the Brooks news a I expect a delay in an announcement as a swap in some degree will be discussed. Leniu as mentioned previously has better options in front of him, not ruling us out, but highly unlikely. Expecting at least 3 more players to be gone from current top 30 before or during pre-season, Gildart, Peachey & Simpkin. Wouldn't be shocked if Maumalo ended up elsewhere also.

Speaking of Maumalo, Is there any word on Jimmy Ngutlik?
Out of all our OB's he looks more likely to me...

Still got a ways to go, But has plenty going for him...
Decent size, Strength - Speed....

Moses is pretty good, he would go well with Sheens, Brad Arthur can't coach

It all comes down to cost but I don't like bringing back players who screwed us over.

Hastings and Doueihi in the halves. A forward pack that can actually score points. Hopefully some quality juniors coming through and we can get rid of the under performers over time.

A lot of things aligning for 2023 it seems.

Liddle, Musgrove, possibly Peachey, Brooks and Gildart gone. That's a lot of turnover.

If we get Klemmer plus decent second rower like Bateman or Frizell we're looking much better in 2023.

Pretty silly to let Madden go now, given most could see us losing Madden and then Brooks in the off season.

too slow
Moses and douhie ok though as a halves pairing
or left field
7. Mitchell Pearce
6. Douhie
13. Hastings

I posted something very similar the other day Sheens is hardly going to downplay wanting to hold on to Brooks. He wants to have his best hand at the negotiating table whether that be by extension ala Lawrence style or a negotiated exit.

If that was what he was doing - Why didn't he let him go last year?
I think he's always known it's a real possibility to lose Brooks - But I don't think it was smoke and mirrors....

He had the chance to let him go, And didn't
Benji and Sheens both rate Brooks - Farah maybe not so much...

Who cares ? I'm serious as well. I care if they get beat defensively and they can't make a bust but I think they will threaten the line regularly.

I'm worried about them defensively but give them a chance and let them work on their game. We should be targeting juniors to come into the team and fill these roles longer term anyway.

Plus Hastings and Doueihi are not marquee halves and we can spend more on other areas.

Laurie is in the same position to me but Staines coming may change that. If Ken M leaves that changes things again.

We just got to wait and see how it all plays out but it's good to see some movement in our spine. It's been an issue that needs to be sorted for a while.

Interesting that Brooks has done it though rather than the club making a change.

I'm not happy about anything till Sheens demonstrates an ability for signing players instead of just letting them go!
Well at least Sheens is displaying an ability to rapidly clear out the players he doesn't want. Hopefully less "not my roster" talk if he is already able to clear 5+ players from existing contracts.

Happy for that side of the business to occur quickly, rather than the Packer / Mbye nonsense we have had to put up with.
