He's been piss poor since his return.
Needs to earn his spot or he can [This word has been automatically removed] off to the knights too.

I'm worried about them defensively but give them a chance and let them work on their game. We should be targeting juniors to come into the team and fill these roles longer term anyway.

Plus Hastings and Doueihi are not marquee halves and we can spend more on other areas.

Laurie is in the same position to me but Staines coming may change that. If Ken M leaves that changes things again.

We just got to wait and see how it all plays out but it's good to see some movement in our spine. It's been an issue that needs to be sorted for a while.

Interesting that Brooks has done it though rather than the club making a change.

think Sheens wants that ball playing lock like Hastings hence I don't know if he will use Hastings at 7 in 2024

It's more for depth, I don't think he's a starting 7, but would have been good to have him there if Brooks is gone.

Every half I've seen coming through tears ressies and juniors up,
I didn't see that with him - Didn't really see anything with him...
Guessing the Knights and WT's didn't either....

This all changes now though. He isn't trying to fit both Doueihi and Brooks into the team.

It gives us a bigger pack as well.

If you play Hastings at 13 then you have to come up with another spine player. Maybe Staines to 1 and Laurie and Doueihi as the running 6's.

Personally I'd just play Hastings at 7 and Douiehi at 6 and see how they go. There isn't any need to rush re-signing them.

So if this is happening re Brooks no doubt that Newcastle/ Brooks would be agitating to make it happen sooner. So does the Klemmer deal hinge on us releasing Brooks or does it give us some leverage elsewhere.

Don't believe Sheens would have let Madden go if he believed Brooks was gone - especially if he doesn't believe Hastings is a 7. I have no confidence yet that Sheens is turning anything around more so than any other who has tried before him. More players leaving than committing and next to no confirmation in signings yet and not sure where they are going to come from. Some news soon in relation to signatures would be welcomed.

That's not even to mention Reilly.

If we get Klemmer plus decent second rower like Bateman or Frizell we're looking much better in 2023.

Pretty silly to let Madden go now, given most could see us losing Madden and then Brooks in the off season.

He's no longer the rep-level player he used to be. Though Klemmer still is.
