Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I agree, one year and cheap price and he'd be a good buy. He'd potentially be our 2nd best 2nd rower (depending how Blore returns). I'd play him on other edge across from Papalii. He's still a very capable footballer and his skillset would suit an attacking style of play. He's dealt with injuries but he seems a bit like a Heighnington/Luke Lewis type player who has the smarts and drive to contribute into his mid 30s when it appeared as if they were done. If wrong you lose nothing really by signing him.

I know this would add to our retirement village approach, but I don't believe he has the same past it vibes of recent purchase Tamou. He plays on a good team and his contributions are usually classy. Tamou in comparison looked like a passenger.
Any word if we are talking to Marty Tapau ?

That spanner Clarkey is saying Dylan Brown allegedly confirmed to the Warriors, if true next to no chance of Moses. Parra will throw big money at him, also Brown was our back up if we missed Moses apparently.

Like most players, I don’t believe he is desperate enough to be interested.
I personally don’t think we’ll see much change this year. And don’t expect massive announcements for /24 either.
Maybe Klemmer but if it’s for /23 why not announce now? What’s holding it up unless. Ofcourse he hasn’t made his mind up about coming to us and is waiting for other clubs to bite. Ie no deal at all, as yet.
We had what 29 as announced in the Ask the Boss segment.
Since then;
Musgrove out that’s 28.
Stains in for Peachey that’s still 28.
Talau announced as resigned that’s 29.
Gildart released that’s still 28.
See there ain’t much squad room left and that’s even after reading a post that states that of 32 players that played NRL for WestsTigers In 2022, 15 have now left (or are unsigned).
That is pretty massive turn over in itself.
But here is the mostly disappointing part. The majority of the squad will be made up of the usual suspects returning from injuries sustained last year and this season gone and 2 new top line recruits.
This team this year will be mostly kids and old favourites…

First Grade (NRL): Wests Tigers

Reserve Grade (NSW Cup): Western Suburbs Magpies

U/21’s (Jersey Flegg): Wests Tigers

U/19’s (SG Ball): Western Suburbs Magpies + Balmain Tigers

U/17’s (Harold Matthews): Western Suburbs Magpies + Balmain Tigers

Third Grade (Ron Massey Cup): Western Suburbs Magpies + Ryde-Eastwood Hawks

Fourth Grade (Sydney Shield): Ryde-Eastwood Hawks
This is in particular for
ODESSA

Balmain Tigers & the
West Magpies still are in the NRL.

On players that have been officially announced it is only 26.

I just had a quick look at the last few pages are we doing the West vs Balmain again ? Has anyone been drinking ? West and Balmain are gone did they ever play in this competition No ......

They play in the ARL ? Is that correct?
So sorry Odessa but you are wrong.

Balmain Tigers and
West Magpies both play in the lower grades.

Doorey maybe before Bateman , youth and not a bad player still plenty learning to go
Lenui would be 2024 only staying at the Riff for 23 in hearing
Klemmer I would love but who knows what’s going on with this one
Big Marty Kapow , if cheap yep still goes forward
Wade , great player but injury and head knocks , could be a dud signing but would be good for the young guys

Get it done ✔ I say for the right price still seems keen for play on and as quoted would suit the the supposed new brand of attack and style we have been promised. The biggest attribute I see also is his want to compete and win ,when the war if attrition is on he thrives never shy of the battle something the existing culture to easily accepts or wilts to most occasions need our young brigade to learn and understand these standards and behaviours before the current and existing habits become their norm. Throw him a guernsey.

I don't disagree with you re reserve grade being Wests Tigers does somewhat promote unity. I don't believe this will actually go on to have any further consequences, be they positive or negative.
I certainly can not understand why you would think it makes any difference to us signing players?
Probably the two most successful feeder systems of recent times (outside of Penrith) are the Sharks with their reserve grade side being Newtown and the Storm with their's being Sunshine Coast.
Could you please elaborate on how and why you believe changing our reserve grade name will result in positive changes?
Storm is unique situation it represents a non rugby league state . Bellamy is a master recruiter. Newtown is a top class side were they minor premiers ?.
Given I only support Wests Tigers who have had a really bad few years give the brand a bigger footprint basic rule of advertising . Our cup team would get more supporters . Maybe this magic Nov 1 will give us some decent recruits and things will look up . Maybe it won't I hope not !

I can only think that Sheens and Pascoe were including the two Development players as contracted players for 23.
Otherwise I have no idea how they counted 29?.
Nah, I think they were counting Talau and one other who hasn’t yet been announced.

I’d heard from someone earlier this year that Apisalome Saukuru was guaranteed a Top 30 spot in 2023 as part of the last contract he signed so I reckon he’ll be announced as the 27th member of the 30 soon enough.

Probably the fans and present/ former players of that club. You wanna kill off a foundation club for a 'gesture'? It would be like cronulla fans wanting to kill off Newtown. Nice gesture.
How are you killing them off?
They’d still be represented in the lower grades.
