Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We should offer him Fullback this year - It might get him out early....
SO much upside to that kid.

We shouldnt be offering FB to anyone who isnt an established proven FB. Offering up the 1 jersey hasnt exactly gone swimmingly for us in recent times Mbye & Doueihi spring to mind and a lesser extent Laurie.
I should add if they want to fight for it im ok with that but offering as in a guarantee im not on board with.

Andrew John’s said whilst commenting a Newcastle game this year on channel 9 - “Frizelle is so tough he plays with a needle before every game and can’t train during the week”

Why would we want that?

I’m sure the tigers management didn’t hear that comment so we’ll probably take him.
I remember Tedesco not being able to train during the week while he was at WT. Didn't stop him.

Laurie wasn't established...
Isn't established now.

We'd be no worse off... Farnworth is class.

They want him gone because they have a couple back rowers that have come on, And they paid to much for him.
Neither of those apply to us...

If we got him on a favourable deal - 2 years max. for decent money...
We'd be stupid not to.

We can't all have blind faith in 18-20 year olds that have shown absolutely nothing...

You reference Sheens past glorys every other minute....
That squad of 2005 was built on the backs of Frizzell like signings - Sattler, Beuttner, Graham even...
As well as a couple old hard heads that had been around a while,
We could use both - RIGHT NOWI
Klemmer would be a good acquisition, Frizell no and I rated him highly in his prime. I note your comment on Finucane which made me laugh. There are plenty of Sharks' supporters questioning his signing.

they will run last with Clune or gamble I'd say as we get closer to Christmas very desperate
I wouldn't mind seeing how a Gamble / Ponga combination went .......I don't think for the short term the Knights have a choice .....Ponga has to play in the halves in 2023 ....Gamble has played pretty well for Brisbane when given the chance ...

Supporters are... We're all experts right?
Do they question the Nicho Hynes he bought with him?

I stand by Frizzell would be the 2nd best back rower at the club, And the perfect foil to bring the young kids through under.... I don't see better on the market for 2023 - And we're short as shit in that area.

Frizell and Klemmer haven’t played a full season with a club, with injuries a d rep duties. Why would that change now?

Games per season from 2022 - 2012 for each

Klemmer - 18,21,21,21,22,21,22,21,23,4 (61mins a game)

Frizell - 21,19,20,21,23,22,21,21,15,22 (74mins a game)

Basically it leaves 3-5 games a year for another player to play in each position from a starting perspective.

Klemmer is a no brainer he is an instant uplift for our pack, he adds 2nd phase play and his tackle efficiency is up there with Twal at 97%, Klemmer is more effective with ball in hand (keep in mind Twal is off contract soon as well). He is a top 10 (at worst 15) prop in the game currently.

If our backrow stocks are viewed to be 2-3yrs off then getting someone like Frizell for 2-3yrs could be an option. Would almost be a no brainer as it just sets us up - pending if any kids are actually ready. My only callout would be is that he is a mostly right edge player like Papa so switching him to the left which he hasn't played for a very long time could be a challenge (changes defensive patterns, line runs, shoulder impact (defensive and attacking) and receipt of ball). Blore & Talau are left edge players which could be why we are giving them a crack.

We would need to consider the cap holds as well with both as their current Knights deals were when they were both prime positional rep players. They are on alot and for 23 we probably could absorb them but in 24 they would need to agree to a reduced deal.

I can see Farnsworth at fullback .....that was his position as a junior footballer ...but then again Nofa was the Junior Kangaroo ahead of Tedesco ....lol

At the Broncos Herbie Farnworth is a player expected to attract plenty of attention. The talented Englishman has previously made it known he wants a crack at fullback. But you can’t see that happening while Reece Walsh and Selwyn Cobbo are at the club. There is also a sneaky whisper going around linking Farnworth to the Roosters. While he wouldn’t be going there to play fullback, he would certainly fix a problem at left centre.

One man expected to cop a significant salary cut is Gold Coast’s David Fifita, although the blockbusting backrower is still in demand with the Raiders leading the chase for his services for 2024 and beyond. Fifita will get offers around the $800,000-a-season mark which makes him something of a bargain buy given the $1 million he is currently on. It’s worth remembering Fifita is still only 22. (DT)

800k isn't a bargain buy for someone who has lost his way.
Seems like the Titans struggle to manage players of great talent though.
He is another right edge player though - we need left edge quality.

Farnsworth I like alot, he has that deceptive running nature about him.
Just don't know about his ball playing ability though.
Be surprised if he left QLD.

If we go hard for Nanai or someone like that for 24 then would make sense not to get in on Frizell, but you're right Frizell would make us instantly better in a position we are shot for atm. We actually struggle to name a supporting backrower for Papa let alone bench rotation.

Front load him then where’s the downside

Klemmer is still playing well in a pretty average team but he's nowhere near as potent as Frizell who is still a very dangerous player . He's the better of the two but both would substantially increase our forward strike power.
