Just reading DT post that there is Wigan “history” between Hastings and Bateman which, if we do sign Bateman, may potentially have repercussions with re signing Hastings.

Just when we thought it was safe to go back in the water, another potential shark attack!

I saw that headline, wondered about that story. Can you post it?
 
From what I saw from what was the sh!tshow of season 2022. I’d be playing Hastings at 7 In 2023. However, With the new players that are already signed and the ones we are linked to. Along with the new coaching staff, I can’t see the team structure being anything like 2023.
The link between the 9, 13 & halves is so important in defining the structure the team play.
 
Hastings, Brooks, AD, all nice guys, but all are not showing the form needed to play in the halves.
This is a professional game, and to go forward you must constantly improve the roster. Nice guys don't win games, talented guys do, We may have to keep all three, owing to the lack of talent on the market, but unless there's massive improvement ( they are not kids anymore) they will be shown the door.

There's a real difference between not being 'fast' and being back rower 'slow' The question itself is interesting. I mean Sterling was slow. Surely he was slower than Hastings. I don't think Lewis or Johns were quick. I suppose the issue with Hastings is that he doesn't really bust the line...

Maybe Sheens think Jacko is a ball hog and he wants more ball movement....

It was mentioned he wants more attacking, go forward game play....

Perhaps an offloading 13 that plays a basic game and doesn't think they're in charge...

He's improved his image with the public but still has a stink in the locker room it seems.

I think he's alright.

Seems to be something going on behind the scenes.

Our 2022 spine is all free to talk and we don't appear to be in any hurry to care....

Now we got some interesting reports of;

- AD parts ways with manager
- Jacko will not be offered a contract at all

... sus.

Maybe the club do have genuine confidence they can get Moses or Brown done???

Also don’t think it’s fair for anyone to just think it’s cause of Jacko’s personality or his presence around the club - poor kid just can’t seem to shake his demons and everyone just relates back to that

I know a few people who work within the club (not from a source perspective) and they all say how much of a gentleman and respectful dude Jacko is.... if he isn’t offered a deal it’s probably bc Sheens just doesn’t see him as the 7 to lead this team in the future nothing personal related and really don’t think it’s fair for us “supporters” to continue to tie him back to that with no real substance

People think Moses couldn't play with him too
 
I can’t believe the wrap everyone has on here for Staines. He is no better than Starford, there is no way we can be a half competitive team with him at fullback.

Absolute disgrace. The one guy we've had in years who shows leadership on and off the field, not to mention outplaying our useless, poor excuse of a mute imp halfback. And we are showing him the door. No wonder we're the laughing stock of the NRL. No doubt the Sheens bootlicker clan will be thrilled as they were up in arms during the season when Hastings was moved into the halves and outplayed their favourite midget.
