Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Sheens statement was not all that convincing, it remains to be seen if Hastings is happy at 13, or requests a release. Though i doubt he would find a club to play him at half. AD and Brooks as the haives was not exactly glowing, and did not sound confident.
Unlees miracles happen, i think 2023 will be the last contract for all 3 at WT's. freeing up close to 2 mil$ for 2024. Me thinks many more things to happen this year and next.
2024 is the target rebuild year i imagine.

2024 halves pairing still a mystery

This rebuild year keeps getting pushed back further and further.

Can't believe we would choose to miss Klemmer just to keep Brooks. Klemmer would have been a much better signing than Thompson.

Really? I can. It's right on brand for these clowns. Remember, this is the type of club that will knock back JAC cause they wanna keep Nof, only to ship him to Melb later on, " to free up cash" that they will spend on Aaron Woods.

There's no way i'd believe that rag, i doubt they know anything except a few whispers here and there. Its obvious we want Klemmer but will only do the deal if its favorable to us.
I would say Woods is more likely than Thompson if i was a betting man. Seems to me that Sheen and co are playing a game of brinksmanship with the knights, we shall see who blinks first probably in the next 7-10 days 😛

I'd suggest its Gould playing games with player chessboard- Bulldogs apparently want Leniu or Klemmer, so they suggest / whisper Thompson to WT to keep the first 2 on hook whilst they try to free up cash and roster spot/s. Wouldnt help out that situation at any price. As suggested there is Woods and we can hope that Woods would get Klemmer over the line- again mind you I'd put a deadline on these games with Klemmer- if he really doesn't want to come here, damn him and let him stew or get a cheaper deal elsewhere.

A few weeks ago things were looking very optimistic for next season, we were been linked to some good footballers and trying to snare the odd big fish. As the cards slowly begin to fall, it seems Groundhog Day all over again.

Okay API and Papi are great additions, but we need plenty more and I think we are in for slim pickings again.
We won't be in the finals for a minimum of 3-4 years. Not sure why everyone's expectations are high. Need 10-12 decent players. Not just two.
I'm skeptical about all of them and I'm skeptical about Hastings at 13. It's also frustrating that next year appears another year to test out our spine. I was hopeful the players would have stepped up and proven by their performances that they deserve those roles and they didn't.

I suppose we just have to wait and see how it works though. It might all come together and Sheensy is a genius.
None of the spine cemented their spot last year. To be honest I don't think they will next year either.

Next year is just going through the motions. We need a new halfback and fullback in 2024.

I hear u , but I am sick and tired of going throw the motions , it’s been this way for far to long , the club needs to bring us fans back on side , starting with at least 3 more class signings for next season

Define 'decent'...

Would you class Nofoaluma, Hastings, Maumalo, Twal, Pole and these types as 'decent'?

Or are you talking about 10-12 superstars?

I think 2024 we won’t have any of AD, Hastings and Brooks, I won’t lose sleep over it either so if any try hold the club to ransom or drag their feet then let them leave but don’t pay any freight for them. Douehi maybe the only one I could see staying and that’s if he dramatically improves in defence and his playmaking.

Can't say I really disagree but average teams make the finals every year, this team is just desperate for some confidence, if they can find it somewhere somehow you never know what might happen.
Finals are always attainable with some luck, but do I think there is any chance of a premiership in the next 2 years? No.

PS: really don’t want Luke Thompson unless we miss out on Klemmer this year and I’d only take him on a 2 year deal max with bulldogs paying half.

So these changes come in the Xmas new year period when managers etc are on their annual breaks … about as much creditsbility as the joker who was saying announcement last Friday. Probably same joker

I found the two paragraphs below from the article advising of a consultative approach to re-signings and recruitment among the coaching team to be very interesting -

Aside from his duties with the playing group, Marshall will have a key role in identifying long-term signings, given his impending switch to head coach.

"We won't be signing anyone that goes into Benji's timeframe that he doesn't agree with," Sheens said. (The West Australian)
Which could explain the " if I have my say" statement. If Marshall doesn't want Brooks then he won't be getting an extension. He might push to be released early.

One of his biggest fans and I don't see this happening. He can improve his defense but I don't think he'll ever be a great ball player.

He is more a power runner who has other tricks in his game with poor defense. If he fixed the defense it'd make a massive difference.
