Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

3 year deal for Klemmer.

Nathan Brown is still in the works but feel now Bateman is done Matamua will top the spot for Brown in the squad.
Are Newcastle chipping in anything for next year or are we taking him on full freight next year and revised contract the following 2 years.

Seems like it. I’d prefer George Williams or Moses at 7. Brooks 6. If Sheens/Benji has Brooks staying in the halves.
George Williams did OKish for Canberra, IMHO would prefer Hastings.

Brooks needs to be 5/8 or OUT.
Unsure which Moses you are talking about, Moses Mbye, Mitchell Moses.... Honestly no one I want back in our team.

Hastings has scored himself a hefty pay rise with the Knights.
Once it was clear that Brooks wasn’t going to be released for 2023 Knights changed focus.
Sheens met with Hastings management & made the point very clear that his future was at 13.
It moved fast from there.
The hope is to build a forward pack that Brooks can actually play off.
Bateman deal will be finalised in the week but he will be here.
Very early talk for Brooks but the club would hope to present a restructured deal for 2 year extension but a reduced rate.

Very important meeting with Moses management next week where a formal offer is expected to be presented.

Matamua expected to be elevated to top 30.
Can Tom Araya confirm any of this?

Love that from Sheens. Players should have to earn their next contract. It shouldn't be handed out based on potential. If they go and sign somewhere before that happens, then it is what it is and their heart was never really in it.
All players except Brooks.

Get rid of Hastings and AdamD.

This is plain stupid.

Tamou was in average form when we signed him. Klemmer is still a top line prop but it just so happens Newcastle have 2 other top line props who are on less money.
Something people said about Dale Finucane at the Sharks.. "he upgraded our game".

What concerns me is our front row needs an upgrade, someone who will help them train better. I think Tamou could have been that but he can't carry the pack himself. Tamou working with Martin and Isaah and all those Penrith young players worked well for him. It did not happen here, and I don't get that.

We need to have a good hard look at the WT as to why Tamou and our pack did not fire. All attention seems ot be on 1-7. Without go-forward as we saw last year..... WE are dead. We had Nathan Cayless, a great player and we had Tamou with our pack. We were steamrolled. Why?

Tamou was covered at Penrith by a great pack...they did not miss him even a moment. As a mate said, half of Tamous 'meters gained' were from kick off returns.

He was cooked years ago.

Klemmer is in his prime.

Not even remotely comparable.
