Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yes and no, seems like a good guy but he’s very pedestrian.
Maybe he’ll take a medical retirement and get a new position in the pathways group. Had involvement there already.
That might be a possible outcome.

If the poor bloke gets a head knock like last time he would be crazy not to retire. His health is far more important than footie

Herbie and Sualii would be the two I'd chase hard. Both want to play fullback and both behind other people for that position. Both young and great upside
And do you seriously think that Sualii would come to us ? I would say definitely not. At least while Uncle Nick is around, especially what they went through to sign him.

To join the westigers 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Sualii?

On his 1 year contracts?
Now sure, the guy has talent. He has some raw ability. But NO
No
we do not need a 1 season wonder.
Maybe there will crop up a season where our regular fullback will be injured and Sualii will fit the bill nicely.

Roosters bidding 1mil a season for a year by year contract player. Heck 1.2 1.3?
Honestly I would rather have Teddy. Sure you would get a slightly unenthused rep player. But you would know he would be there next year.

Parramatta shows you what to avoid, super money hungry players who won't take a 4k fine but ask for a 50k raise.

Not sure about you Jirskyr ...but if I was up and leaving for a few years to the other side of the world I'm not sure if I'd be heading via LA ...... and a holiday

Who knows what might end up in your boogie board .....or what happens to everything you are bringing ....but that's just me

But he is a Pom ..hey @hobbo1
You might certainly do it if you had kids and you promised to take them to Disneyland.

Probably more interesting than flying to Sydney via Singapore.

Because overpriced halves have always worked at this club 😂
Thinking about it on the Halfback stakes:
Scott Prince - Worked bloody well. Awesome and underrated player.
Robert Lui/Tim Moltzden/Tom Humble. Never paid much at all...
Some NZ reserve grader Cleary brought and paid 300k a season ... ??
Brooks, built up through west tigers ranks, yes clearly being paid Overs to stay. It's not the overs that I object too so much as his failure in the position.

Other then Brooks we never really forked it out for a half seriously.
Reynolds, yes ok he was a 5/8 but he was on 750k which is heaps but the going rate for halves at the time. Sure it was Overs, not excessively so. Yes his signing did not work out.

Marshall was paid going rate I believe or less. 500k?

Moses Mbye was brought to play Fullback.... Why? No one Knows! Oh yea he looked ""good"" in a team coming 16th.

I believe we would be possibly committing football suicide by abandoning a good strategy of improving our forward pack, to go back to a strategy of betting the ranch on a halfback. We shall see. WT modus operandi is to repeat past errors.

Send the skinny Elias kid to the dogs as payback for Mbye and Reynolds.

Unpopular opinion but I don't rate Moses and don't think he'd be much good for us.

He's behind a monster pack and plays flashy but has a pretty average kicking game and isn't a great defender.

Sure, he's better than what we have but I'd prefer a player like Townsend or Reynolds or even Keary to help direct attack and make good decisions. Moses overplays too much and lacks precision. He's not better than Cleary, DCE, Hughes or the others I mentioned.
