Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Club LEGENDS don't talk and act like he does

Could you see Skando or Hodgo or Darren Senter having an interview like that

Piss off Back Door Benny ...we Qlders were right ...you are a tugger .....
Is there any chance do you reckon, as unlikely as it may be, that Benny is in fact running interference against the Eels?

Usually when we hear speculative media about the Tigers, the truth ends up being the opposite of what you have heard (e.g. Latrell Mitchell going to sign, Tigers agreement with JAC etc.). There is part of me that thinks "gee if Benny is doing such a hard sell against Moses to the Tigers, almost over the top sales pitch, is he in fact obscuring a very good chance that Moses will do it?"

I know people dislike Benny Elias, with good justification, but why would he be at such pains to tell the media (at least twice now) that he thinks Moses --> Tigers is not a good idea, or not sellable? It could of course be to let the Tigers down gently, but surely Benny Elias knows enough people at the club to have that conversation outside of the media. Which is why I got the outside-chance hunch that the articles are actually for the Eels not the Tigers.

You are right that meeting a person is certainly different from how the Media portrays them . However for me , actions speak louder than words. His character was on display when he had the chance to stand up against the blatantly bias decisions in that Cowboy game .Tough words are cheap when not followed up with action . He laid down.
That's nonsense, Tigers had no leg to stand on. Lee H even got expert (external) legal opinion on the matter - he made a public statement that the advice he was given was that there was no case Tigers could bring and win against the NRL.

As badly as we got screwed against Cowboys, you can't pin that on the club. No club gets the NRL to reverse the final decision from a ref's call, it will never happen.

I reckion if you get forwards from Rugby you want breakaways .....fast ...mobile ...tough and most hit like Mack trucks ......David "Bluey" Wilson comes to mind
I read/saw an interview with him somewhere he was saying things like he's learning where to put his arms and leg in the contact, that its very different from rugby. cited Klemmer as helping him out a lot

Sorry Jirskyr ...but the thought of trying to enter Benny's mindset isn't overly appealing

Lets put it this way ...If benny was a weather broadcaster and he told me tomorrow it was going to be fine I'd be expecting tornados / cyclones and tsunamis

He never has anything nice to say about the club when he is on NRL 360 ...much like Jeff Thomson ...you want a quote that will piss a million readers off ...ring Benny / Thommo

I basically agree in relation to Benny but maybe he knows that Moses isn't coming and is just trying to make it as palatable as possible.

Personally I don't care if we miss him. I think these big dollar contracts can screw you. I'd like to see us get Welsby.
welsby as a 6 or a 1 though ?

Breakaways have to be aggressive defenders ...almost the leaders of your teams line speed

Most Rugby players who have come over have been second rowers ..take out Gourley and Price and I can't think of any rugby forwards who have been remotely successful .....maybe Tiann Strauss ..but how many games did he play for Cronulla

Peter Ryan and Brad Thorn weren't bad

As much as the cowboys result hurt, I think allowing WT to have the decision overturned after the fact would set quite the dangerous precedent moving forward. Probably a good thing in the long run that it was not taken any further.

No. Benny is just a tool hungry for media attention & able to milk the fact that he is related to Moses
