He didnt wonder why they didn't fold on Brooks, but rolled on Hastings?

We would have been paying big bucks towards Brooks leaving … and zilch for Hastings.
Wrong choice in the end .. in my opinion.
We now have a news bunch of guys who hate to lose .. and Brooks who is accustomed to it.

Staines was stuck in reserve grade at Penrith and was looking for a chance, Klemmer was reportedly unhappy and wanted out of Newcastle and Bateman was looking for $$$ and has an Aussie wife.

yes they brought us those players - but what were the terms?

You provided facts without specifics or detail.

Would you be happy to pay $1m a year for Nathan Brown? I assume not.

So the terms of the deal are important not necessarily the signing which is what makes a good negotiator.

If we did sign Bateman for 4 yrs that’s a joke - like re-signing Naden for 3 yrs when he had no other options (same mistakes we made with Reynolds’s and Mbye for 4 yrs)… even Klemmer should’ve been a 2yr + 1yr option for the money we are paying but hey Justin, Lee and Sheens are gods.

But in the end - hope you’re right and I’m wrong.

Proof will be in the Xmas pudding next year.

I was with my mate last night who’s brother works at the Knights - said they can’t believe we traded Hastings for Klem as Klem was always gonna come - they just applied some pressure to the Tigers and we folded.

i really don’t want to be vindicated next year and I hope everyone on here gives me plenty of crap when we make the finals ….

But over paying, signing players longer than needed, and trading our best players is a reflection of this club.

People can bag me for being negative but we won the spoon… we are mediocre because we celebrate our mediocrity.

1) Hastings was not a bad player , but he was as slow as snail compared to brooks , and I really don’t remember him breaking the line , but yes he was a manager out there , but now we have api and we have speed in brooks .
2) the swap for KLEMMER will be a super move
3) Bateman will be 33 when his contract is up that’s not old at all these days
4) Staines again has speed which we lack
So maybe luck out side the box rather than looking in the box

It's a sunk cost. What ever is committed in the contract is committed. Money can't be a determinant in this equation.

All we see is on the field. I assume Benji was highlighting team cohesion around that time for a reason.

The two big signings did not get over the line until Sheens was on board. Madge couldn't land anyone until Sheens arrived
