Pretty clear to see Brooks looked a lot better playing at 6.Back to Noggin's point though. We took 3 seasons to get rid of Madge.
Honestly that is fine, kinda.
We had a less then competitive roster and Madge's worst year was 2022. (by far). Yet he had to be cut in 2022 (Sheens, why May? Madge should have taken the heat and the blows, why put Noddy through that).
Easts/Cronulla/Dogs and many other teams would have cut Madge sooner. We recognised what he was dealt and gave him 2021...
Brooks I count 2 wins out of 17 games. Brooks is the halfback. 4/16 is a lot better then 2/17 particularly when mr "I want NR7" demands halfback.
It's not all down to Brooks, if anyone is responsible it's the entire teams defence, we just leaked too many points. The front row needed to step up and it stepped back.
Yet if the choice was Brooks vs Hastings, Luke you can head north.
Looking forward, whoever is the pommy Sheens recruits from britain can get whatever Stab at NR7 if they want that. Brooks has done nothing in 2022 to keep the spot.
Don’t worry, Nathan brown is on hiss way 🤪👍We still easily have the worst backline in the comp. Not a single player is a lock, no standouts, just a bunch of average joes scrapping for a spot.
Good sides, the team picks itself.
I wrote this before and no one responded. It's ok, I didn't expect everyone to be interest everyone but I wonder if anyone has any information on this.......
I know the NRL has a history of failed English backs, our own Gildart being the latest, but this Welsby guy looks different. When you watch the highlights video, you see outstanding talent and with his combination of speed, toughness and passing ability, you have to think he'd really transition well. This is definitely a guy we should go hard for but how realistic a chance are we to sign him? I've heard there would be an enormous transfer fee and that St. Helens are not keen to release him. Thoughts?
Not sure but I'd reckon 650k area. Doubt Tigers would go more than that now.Anyone know the figures behind the Bateman deal, only aware of the transfer fee which I believe is outside of the cap
Assuming cause it’s 4 years the $ per year might not be as much - happy to be paying him anywhere in the 550-650k mark
For mine, a choice between Hastings & Moses is a no brainer. Hastings amongst the action & Moses too often missing in action. The $ for Moses is a wasteThe Moses talk has obviously and understandably grasped majority of our attention but please don’t let that distract you from the fact that we’ve been the most successful team in the NRL this off season in terms of recruitment
Api, Papalili, Klemmer, Bateman, Staines all confirmed for 2023 etc whilst making big plays at both Munster (drove Melb to raise there offer) and now Moses (word is Parra are restructuring their offer to make Moses happy) but still a chance he may be coming also - then also Nathan Brown is being discussed which imo would be a great signing off the bench
Plus clearing out the trash and giving us spots available to make these moves
Regardless on what happens with Moses the club have done extremely well and deserve recognition and backing from us fans towards the new coaching team to support them on their decisions even if that means letting Hastings go - still think we’re 1-2 spine signings off from being contenders but Moses would certainly help with that
Self preservation 101I just watched the last 2 ask the boss episodes, benjis and klemmers.
Jesus christ i hate pascoe so much, the way the guy talks about the club and trys to direct a conversation. ew
good ol hindsight :')Self preservation 101
I too think we have ok backs. With the new forwards giving us the go-forward then we hopefully will see the backs add the polish.I think what we have in the backs is genuine competition for spots. No clear 1-5. Hopefully they are all doing the work and 3-4 of them have real breakout years.
I've seen Moses plenty of time "amongst the action". The difference between the two is Moses' efforts are rewarded with line breaks and often setting tries up for team mates. He has matured nicely into a very good 7 and importantly will bring down the bigger men running at him.For mine, a choice between Hastings & Moses is a no brainer. You're right there. I was surpised a couple of times later in the season to see Moses actually complete tackles other than dropping off 1/2 way through. And he did some good drawing defense and passing to create gaps. But he still went missing regularly. For mine, still no value for the big bucks.I've seen Moses plenty of time "amongst the action". I never said Madge wasn't part of their signings. Just pointing out that they couldn't get them signed until after Sheen's arrived. And prior to Sheens arriving Madge couldn't sign anyone decentThis was in tandem. Give Madge the credit he deserves.
Both Api and Papi have strong relationships with Madge.

Dude instead of put downs why not put forward valid arguments...seriously!Seriously! Ican't believe you watch football!
