Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

on a market of 130% ?? almost 50% of clubs make the 8
$6 is about as good as it gets
as far as top 4 or winning GF those odds should be double what they are, they have those markets locked at 100%
Stop making sense the math. 👍
I said $16 coz it rhymed with 6. Just pointing out that your odds are never fair for the punter otherwise there’d be no booky.
But for a team with our record you’d think they could throw a couple of $ at us. Although that sentence is punter bias isn’t it.

Yes that’s how I would normally take it but the roster is all but finalised. Unless we are releasing some more guys?
I believe there are more changes to come. Everyone loves Ken Mamaulo and he tries hard but I envisage his future in ESL. He is a Maguire style winger. With Nofoaluma having one wing spot we need far more pace on the other wing. Our halves are thin as well.

Ur right we are short in the backs , but sheens had to start somewhere, and we had to clean out our crap forward pack which he has done , all forwards signed for a couple more years so next year the backs will get a overhaul

The conclusion I take from it is that there may be more to come. It's a semi-colon, not a full-stop.
With Bateman we have more experience (and a current rep international) in the pack and this then makes us a way more attractive option for not only '23 signings, but also anyone considering us for '24. This in my opinion is why the domino reference was included. It will have a flow on effect and no doubt help future recruitment.

This is the encouraging thing with our recruitment drive this far. No massive bloated contracts yet.
The concern that many fans think Moses is worth $1.4 mil is the only worry.

Moses, 1.4 Million isn't my worry. It's clearly too much, but Moses is a form player at the moment and delivering 1mil on the field at least.

My worry is Moses is 28 at the moment. 2025 Moses will be 30 along with Brooks.
A 1.4 million 30 year old half could be a massive problem for Benji as a coach. Yes Benji has played and performed past 30 and I hope he can coach it in some longevity.

... We don't want a halfback that will peak now and probably Next year. We want greatest peak in 2025. Hiring Moses now on overs will stuff our 2025!

Could this be one of the club’s continual hurdles they need to reassess?

I would say so.Klemmer three years with mutual option, Bateman 4 years both 28/29. No manager is going to negotiate a deal for their player to go to a wooden spoon club at that age without getting maximum dollars with a lengthy contract, if we want them badly enough. Even if the player doesn't perform well it ensures that we are going to pay them here, or subsidise them to play somewhere else.
The Api and Papi deals were great buys given what we reportedly paid and the terms.

Maybe coach Sheens should have a meeting with McDonald and Head of Football Sheens to increase focus on cap balance?
We have a non coach with no coaching experience signing off on the 25 playing roster?
If you had to give $12.1m to someone to spend on the playing roster, who would you give it to?
I know footy is not an exact science, and most decisions are made on gut feel, but geez us? Should we have given the roster budget to the guy who helped create the flexibility in it?

According to POM, it's 1.25 for Moses. Still a bit overs IMO but not tooooo far, particularly with the new cap.

Good point but all the talking heads in the media reckon halves don't start shining till 29 - 30.
