How much have we been reported to pay him. I can't remember reading it anywhere

The figures i have read have put him around the 750k mark,on his raiders form that is ok but on his ESL form that is way overs. Also i have large concerns over a 4 year contract as he has left his last 2 clubs early (Raiders and Wigan) and like us Raiders had to pay a transfer fee and got nothing in return.
His purchase has very concerning vibes imo

According to POM, it's 1.25 for Moses. Still a bit overs IMO but not tooooo far, particularly with the new cap.
If you take into account there was an 18% (I think it was) cap increase then it is only about $1.05M in how we’ve been thinking over the last few years. Think that’s about right for a quality half, especially if you are trying to pry him away from another team (who just made the GF).

Moses, 1.4 Million isn't my worry. It's clearly too much, but Moses is a form player at the moment and delivering 1mil on the field at least.

My worry is Moses is 28 at the moment. 2025 Moses will be 30 along with Brooks.
A 1.4 million 30 year old half could be a massive problem for Benji as a coach. Yes Benji has played and performed past 30 and I hope he can coach it in some longevity.

... We don't want a halfback that will peak now and probably Next year. We want greatest peak in 2025. Hiring Moses now on overs will stuff our 2025!
DCE would be on $1.4m? Maybe more considering his contract is linked to a percentage of total cap? And he’s 35?

I don’t agree with some of the rubbish that’s being posted about the 05, 10, 11, & 12 seasons, but I can assure you as a betting man we were equal favourites in 2012 and depending on the booky out right favourites.
To say that 2005 was a failure is complete rubbish. The aim every year is to win the GF we did that in 05 full stop. Melb cheated thief way to GF wins and still call that a successful year.
However, you could certainly say the following years 06,07,08 were complete failures as we did not capitalise on our GF win and although we had some injuries we also had no depth and no D.
I didn't say it was a failure ...we should have capitalized on those results better ...I think in the long run we would have been better not winning the premiership ...it would of made the club realize we needed to improve ...winning almost hid the ineptitude way the club was still being run ...we won despite all of it

100% we were favourites.
Sheens was extended in 2011 until 2014 but was released following the disaster that was season 2012. This triggered all his court action.
It's football, meh

I don't think we were "favourites" as in the team that would do the best. Bulldogs and Souths would both be teams I would predict to do better. Maybe though we were seen as a top 6 side.

We can agree to disagree, hey maybe some people picked us as favourites and I get that. This forum has too many people throwing insults and stuff that. I'll respect a fellow tiger.

2012 was a disaster. We all agree on this. Which is why 2023 our board will need to watch Sheens closely. We don't know if Sheens will get a 2005/2011 or a 2012 performance from our team!

With the squad we have, barring catastrophic injury if we land 13-16 then we should be firing Sheens in 2024. Our coaching plan has put all our eggs in the Sheens/Benji basket and hey we need to go all in. We should make the top 8 this year yet I can see us getting in at 10th due to competition.

We shouldn't have to endure another 2012/2022 again, if Sheens fails to perform then I am happy to punt him and entice Haslier or another proven coach for 2024
(ofcourse not doing what we did with Madge, punting in May was a big mistake... Sheens can do the hard suck till we actually get someone better. Making Noddy coach through Madge's failed year, ouch.).

I totally take your point. 2005 made our club lazy.

Heck, we had a board that was literally Balmain Vs Wests. I remember at the time of Sheens renewal the board had Zero ideas around coaching and said "sheens" was their only option! Totally dysfunctional

Yet I can't deny the glory of 2005. I suspect without it a piece of Tigers history would be missing. Finals can be down to the right bounce, I could easily see our club being premiere less without 2005

Without 2005 we probably are still Premiershipless ..but I'd say 2005 -2010 and 2012 -2022 doesn't happen either

As dumb as this sounds ...you can't win a premeriship if you don't make the 8 ...and despite those 9th spots ..we were and are probably still are a long way off ...hopefully the current recruitment surge is heading the right direction and will attract others that keep sending us Northward

Happy, I get what you’re trying to say, but you floored me again with “I think in the long run we would have been better not winning the premiership
Better not winning the GF? Then we’d have nothing to cling to.

"Favourites" normally refers to whoever the bookies had as the shortest price.

That is partly true but it is weight of punters money which forces the bookies into that position (what is their worst payout result).Bookies don't gamble they try to get a positive result out of all outcomes and nearly always do despite their denials

U know when ur at the bottom of the pile u have to pay more and give longer contracts or u just don’t get the class players .
All the players we have signed are class players and all under 30 at present, not sure how old api is , but to pull this bunch I think we have done really well all should be in there prime for the next 3 years , and if they get us in the finals we will have no trouble getting better players to replace them when there time is up , so sit back and hopefully enjoy a golden era coming up .

The decline initially after 2005 was not all bad management. There was a big push from the teams that controlled the NRL to slow the game down. They had recruited teams that were not suited to the fast up tempo style of game that Sheens had the Tigers playing and outside the cowboys, not many teams could play that sort of football.

So the wrestle and slow play the ball was introduced to kill off Sheensball and we did not have the roster to adapt.

Now the NRL have gone the full circle after a decade of rubbish football they now want teams to play like the Tigers 2005 by introducing 6 agains and clamping down on the play the balls.

Dont get me wrong..our management has been abysmal for a long time

Do not conflate Terry Lamb and Jason Taylor.
Terry is a lot like Benji Marshall in that he changed the way people attack in Rugby league.
Good guy, grub player who punched out Benny Elias.
He got booted from coaching for allowing an unallowable practice.

Jason Taylor was a play by my formula coach with the people skills of a wet fish.

Lamb, from all my memories was actually doing ok till John H. Yes Taylor was doing a lot of what you were saying. I can't imagine two coaches more different.
Lamb is not like Benji, Lamb was disliked by a lot of supporters. He was a guy who probably got on well with the players, however, did not get the respect that he should have as a coach. He possibly should of been brought in as an assistant coach. Also, did nothing for our Juniors and lower grades.

Taylor was worse, he was a nightmare, apparently does ok with the Roosters lower grades however showed none of that here.

Whereas Madge, you could see was trying, his passion was there, he attempted to get good players here , they just would not come, they just used us in getting a higher bid. He was successful at other clubs, however those clubs had the cattle.
