Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

No need to apologise. Just think their another insta chancer from what's come up on here. Seem popular tho.

7 remains a mystery. I think Moses and Brooks could work. However big question mark on combinations without Moses.
I'll hazard a guess and say if Douhi partnership with Brooks doesn't work out and Douhi doesn't lower his 900k price tag we will be making noises next year looking for someone to come in and I think Douhi might be out the door. Hope it works I like Douhi just not 900k worth of like.

Manu definitely I believe his contract was 500k if not last year then 2021. He was upgraded at some point... Joey Manu could easily get a 1Mil contract at fullback.

Sua'ali'i with 1 year contracts each negotiated for a higher price I don't think is settling for less money. I believe Sua'ali'i was already past 1 million dollar deal at Souths and signed for more with Easts... . Look Easts make discussing the salary cap funny for some reason. 😉

I notice that Easts, Manly and Knights use the "pay a few very good players well" idea. Knights paid 1m to get Klemmer then did it again to get Frizzel, it had a mixed success. Easts going hard for Cronk and SBW worked well for them. Yet it seems coaching flexibility, like allowing SBW to do boxing got them over the line.
If you really believe that - I have a great real estate opportunity you may be interested in....

Totally agree mate,,,I honestly think that we should have kept Hastings, put Brooks to 5/8 and AD play centre ...I dont care about Hastings and Bateman not getting on,they get paid good money to do their JOB..
AD either plays where the coach needs him or go elsewhere..many people have said the NRL is a business ...treat it as such or forever play the favourites and be a boys club within the NRL circus...
Its time this club becomes a force as we have all expected since the inception...Sheens in my opinion has a last throw of the dice, this either works within the 5 years he has predicted or we will never be the club that so many of us have expected it to be,from either side of the JV we are one and want success for the WTs ...
We all have to let go of the emotional past, whether it be Balmain,Wests or the 2005 GF win...this is now and we need to cement a platform for years of success in the next 5 years we dont need to be constantly missing the 8,sacking coaches, buying over priced has beens or looking at past legends to bring us success...
If this works then it will be the best thing thats happened to us for years...if it doesnt then there really has to be serious conversations from within so we can get the results we need in other words a complete overhaul of the club from top to the players....

He hoped we get the 2 points ...unless he meant the scoreline you can't get anymore positive

Wrong thinking, but I agree where you are going.

You treat it as a business, you get the Eels problem:
Mitch Moses + Gutho pushing for a raise each year.
Matterson who won't pay a 4000 fine so his team will miss him 3 games.
It's a business right, its unfair that he has to pay #snapchat.

Contrast that with:
Broncos - Shayne Webcke "Wayne just give me whatever is left over" re salary.
Roosters - Cooper Cronk playing with a chance of permanently loosing an arm.
Manly - Jamie Lyon asking DCE why he isn't taking unders like the rest of the side. (2011 we were tight knit, like Manly but not as tight knit).

if we make this a business and we will come middle of the pack. were facing 16 other businesses and as a business were not that different.

We make this about passion, about football, about sportsman being their best. While managing the cap, we will get the best out of people

Yep, it's make or break. Us reaching out to Sheens in this way while roping in Benji and Farah is a big call. It must work else we burn a lot of people. Benji gave up a lot to come back to the club, I would hate him thinking "I missed a great radio job and stuffed up a coaching gig".

Selwyn Cobbo might be on the market looking for a club soon after these public comments about Kev Walters......

“I reckon he’s a good person,” Cobbo said.

“He’s a good person, like a good bloke but I don’t think he’s a good coach. He’s not the best coach but he’s alright.

“I feel like he’s just a good person but I don’t reckon he’s a coach. Even though he experienced footy, been through all the grand finals and all that, but I feel like he’s not a coach.

“But he’s a good person, a good bloke and does a lot for the club. But the way he coaches is a bit weird, I guess. He’s a good person though. He’s an alright coach.”

I picture him saying that on his 11th bourbon & coke.. Reads like he's absolutely hammered

Even if you pay me $1m, I will still be incapable of running 100m in under 10 seconds. Cos I'm fat, 65 with a gouty knee. Herzberg's Hygiene factors apply - it's a business model reality:
  • pay. If you don't pay enough I won't play enough.
  • quality of supervision. The coach & staff must be top-notch
  • company rules. The culture must be squeaky clean.
  • physical working conditions. COE is in place!
  • co-worker relationships. Oil & water don't mix! e.g. Hastings Bateman!
  • job security. 4 year deal for 28-year-olds!

Hygiene factors, according to Herzberg, cannot motivate employees but can minimize dissatisfaction, if handled properly. In other words, they can only dissatisfy if they are absent or mishandled. So as long as the Weststigers Admin has all the hygiene factor ducks lined up correctly we ought to be OK in 2023 and beyond.
