One thing the match tells me is Staines is not replacing Daino at fullback but what's not clear is what happening for our centers . I was thinking Naden paired with Talau but its a worry .None of the kids stood out at center and AJ has been tried and failed a few times
Failed a few times?? Not what I have seen , he was playing pretty darn well before he got injured last year

Hastings already playing well for the Knights !! WTF 😳 have we done ????

Lol 1st half He dropped the ball cold 10mtrs out and no one around him & tackled his own player that nearly led to a try. He has touched the ball alot and is hovering in the middle of the park and hardly done anything of note against a mostly reserve grade side. Knights have scored once so far.

Never good to concede 9 tries/48 points regardless of the excuses.... We're 13 v 13 and meant to be competitive
100% agreed

I am angry because this means Sheens has forgotten defence and focused on his 200 passes per game.

Great we scored 2 tries! Wooptie-do.

Sheens should have been spending the summer training session working on defensive structures. Ensuring that our forwards are tacking, tackling well and that our people are in the right positions to make a defensive line.

Nope it's fast footy, don't care where people are.

Almost tempted to say wake me up in 2025.

He’s good for roster spots 24 to 30. He’s good in reserve grade. Could fill in for a few games in firsts if required. You don’t break the bank for him and let him walk if he gets a good offer. Fairly easy to find equivalent production at a cheap cost.
I don't want him at the club .....but he was improved last night ......

Hysterics

I thought he was solid in limited minutes last night. did very well on those play 1/2 hitups. would definitely have him on the wing in place of Scolari to begin the year in Cup.
Have seen both over time and and agree Hill definitely deserves his chance - an excellent prospect & gets my nod of approval as a player. Went well on the LHS when he came on with limited opportunities. He will go well in Cup and has a big future in my opinion. He is also a great kid.

Scolari will bounce back and is a prolific try scorer. He has fire in the belly. He had not played since June 2021 after Covid and an ACL & only commenced preseason just before Christmas. Of course he will be rusty first game in nearly 2 years particularly with Tommy who was coming back from serious injury (also written off).

The hysterics on some posts here about a trial is quite amazing. All of a sudden, this player/kid will make it, this one won’t etc. Yes of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion and take on things. Players will have bad games and deserve to be called out. However, I doubt there is sufficient evidence just yet.

Defensive structures in the first game of the year from an opposing team that actually gets the ball to their wings will test any coming back from hefty layoffs. Both will admit and own their mistakes and work on them no doubt. You can practice as much as you like but you need game time which both have seriously lacked. Both can tackle, don’t worry about that.

Funnily enough, you can’t score tries if you can’t get the ball. Also starved, Tupou was sadly wasted and yet all of a sudden, players are labelled by some as slow and not up to standard. There is even rubbish on here that players have bulked up and not as fast anymore. I suggest people actually go out and have a look at these guys train before making rash statements (I am semi retired) - some are much quicker than you think and will show it if they get the opportunity.

Whoever plays Cup out wide, if Thursday night is anything to go by, and I doubt it, it’s going to be very lonely out there.

Hopefully the new found “throw it around” strategy will actually occur with actions, not just words.

I’d rather win a trial implementing the off season’s work including attacking and defensive structures, keeping our shape and completing to a high standard as opposed to getting pantsed by the reserve grade side of an expected bottom 6 squad.
Yeah, so would I.
But the Warriors had far more first grade experience than us, and their reserve grade squad was far ahead of the kids version of the wooden spooners.
It's a shame we never got to see the best of the kids . . . naturally some were capable of being up to first grade and some not.
Anyway, the reason we have our hopes raised is because of the recruitment . . . and none of those were playing.
In a way, we played our spoon team minus 10 odd starting first graders. Are we surprised ?
Hopefully a better showing next game mate.
