Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

There's a chance they could lean him right down and do plenty of agility work, that could make a fair difference. A frame like his could swing between 105kg at the high end to play lock, or down as low as 88 - 90kg if they wanted to maximise his agility and endurance.

It'd be a fair experiment. I think he's definitely got the ball playing, the catching/leaping and the communication ability for fullback, with his change of direction and positional play the major drawbacks, though the latter is a learned skill.

There'd be worse options. Some better ones too, but worse fullback picks no doubt.
Brooks Moses douehi Laurie are all high quality players. If you can afford them and sign them , you keep them all and find spots for each of them in your first grade back line .

One thign it shows is the need for pace in the backline. We currently dont' have anyone in our entire backline as quick as Moltzen was. Who was quick, but still not JAC quick.
Laurie and Naden are both deceptively quick. Certainly in the realm of Moltzen, who was not a noted elite speedster, as you said.

At 24 i think AD would be pissed at a 1yr extension. Most contracts are 3 yrs. I think that if some club offers him a 3 yr contract on his current money he will go. Clubs will be looking to see how Laurie, Brooks,AD, and Stains perform, before making offers, If they do perform the Tigers may not be able to keep them. The merry go round will be on again, many changes ahead.

Think he is smart potentially. Maybe he wanted 1yr to allow him more time to negotiate longer and focus on a full year of footy to bump his price up come November.

If he gets to 2021 back end of the year form under a Sheens attacking model his price will jump up for sure & probably be able to get a release if Moses/Brooks happens.

I think it suits where he is at. He gets some security and will get a chance to prove himself as a 6 this year, raising his value for us or another club.

He'll want to command higher $$ before locking in something long-term.

It suits us too, if he turns out to be an awesome 6, we'll happily pay the $$. But it's a bit iffy right now.

Brooks will be here 2024, issue at present is length of deal. interesting thing is 1 year extension for AD that might point to is he playing centre or fullback in 2024
There is no issue because there is no offer yet and no guarantee he’ll even be here …even though you obviously hope the 2018 Dally M Halfback of the year stays forever.

It's a gamble. If i'm 24 and getting $650,000 a year, and the offer is the same for a 1 yr extension, i would not sign. I would shop around hoping to get $700,000 contract for 3yrs. That is 2.5 mill.
If he gets moved to centre , his value would decrease. Take into account the short playing career of players. a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. The same applies to Laurie, and some extent Brooks.

The fact that Sheens mentioned keeping Brooks on an extended restructured lower deal months ago and nothing has happened leans me to think that the issue with Brooks is he's once again trying to chase the dollars and nothing else. If he had any loyalty to the Tigers he'd realise how overpaid he's been on his current 4 year deal and have agreed to the restructured extension months ago

It may be purely coincidental, but Brooks and Moses do have a very good manager looking after their interests. No announcements have been made (yet).

you have picked it in one... that is why we are only extending AD for one year because Brooks is leaving...
Either way once the Moses deal happens Brooks future will be sorted, Isaac will not have the power he is currently trying to push the club for having both Moses and Brooks as clients.
Either way once Moses says yes or no Brooks contract will be sorted

wait Paws if Moses arrives at Concord (think he will) Brooks will probably be on a restructured 4 year deal.
If Moses doesn't sign then simple the club go back to Brooks and Isaac and are like that 4 year deal is now 3 years or go find another club. He wont leave sydney which does limit options a bit.

Says who JT, this isn't a package deal
haha. If Moses signs he's signed with
us regardless if Brooks is extended
or not brother. If Doueihi fires we have
our 6 & 7 locked in I would say.
It's all contingent on Moses signing,
both Brooks & Doueihi have their
futures to play for as it stands ...

AD on a one year deal makes no sense if he was the answer at 6 to partner Moses.
The dealay is Isaac trying to push Brooks deal, he gets commission on both and at present he has the leverage on the club he can easily be putting pressure on a Brooks deal. All that leverage goes away if Moses signs with parramatta.
