Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Expecting the club to announce shortly a 2 year extension for Brooks, doesn’t want to go anywhere else based on discussions despite recent interest from the Dolphins.
Going to give Brooks & AD a chance to prove themselves now for the time being.
Large is the future for the club. Hopefully ready a year after Benji takes over

So other than extending Brooks do we have any other potential targets now we haven’t given all our cash to Moses?

Farnworth, RTS, etc???

There you go fellas, obviously Moses was never going to come. Welsby and Farnworth would be awesome pickups although the latter is apparently close to staying at red hill

Any chance the 2 year extension was signed in the hope of playing him alongside Moses? As in the manager Isaac Moses used the situation to get the best option for both clients? Brooks gets more money with Moses not at the club. Is it a decent contract as in we are getting good value out of it?

I am glad the Moses saga is over and I am not disappointed by the outcome. The idea of bringing back a player that tanked on us to get his own way, just didn’t sit well with me. I didn’t think we were seriously a chance of signing him, we were just driving up his Parra price. Would he have made a difference to our team, probably, would he have taken a giant chunk of our cap for years, definitely, are there plenty of fish in the sea, absolutely.
Time to turn our attention to this season & the cubs we have and maybe look at Welsby etc.

Looking forward to see what pans out now. Sheens will not have had all of his eggs in one basket.

There is no need to rush to sign Brooks. He can play for his contract over the opening weeks which is great for us.

Plenty of gold in the war chest and all the quality players know that we aren't afraid to spend it.

Time to see how Brooks and AD perform behind a quality set of forwards. If they are do OK I expect the $ will go towards a strike centre and first class 1 while we hold ground waiting for a home grown 7 to emerge.

A lot hanging on Messers Brooks and Douhie to perform now.

Isdale, Conti and Large, probably our best halves prospects, are all playing in the under 17s right now.

In 4 years, they'll still be eligible for flegg.

Meaning, at the earliest, they're 4/5 years from tasting first grade, much less holding a spot or even excelling. For reference, that time frame is the end of Benji's coaching contract.

So, we've got Brooks and doueihi for the foreseeable future, 4/5 years in best case scenario, that is, of course, unless a top line half comes on the market in that time, and, is even willing to entertain a move to the Tigers.

I can't name one.

So, unless you feel that Brooks and Doueihi are a top four or possibly premiership winning halves combination, then we're stuck with an 'ok' halves pair for the foreseeable future, regardless of the way we continue to build the squad.

For this reason, I think that this is a HUGE miss.
