Is Starc fit for the next Test?

It'd be handy having a left arm quick, Cummins is an auto selection being captain so I'm not going to entertain him not being there, Murphy and Lyon to round out the spinners, with Head, Labuschagne and Smith part timing.

If Green is fit, I'd even give him a run at six, move Head to opener for Renshaw since he's done nothing so far.

Series is gone so it's just deckchairs on the Titanic stuff, but more patience needs to be shown by our top six. Remedial errors in shot selection in that second innings.

Am I the only one who feels there's a gross overreaction by Australians and the Australian media? Not many teams win in India, in fact I'd be surprised if India has lost / drawn more than 5 matches in last 2-3 years.

Add to that, Patel, Jadeja and Ashwin is probably the best spinning trio in the last decade!

The earlier comments on here about Warner and his family, very un-called for.

Also, I think Australia is still first in the WTC!

Any other openers in the Aussie squad beside Renshaw? Warner has had one good inning in the last year.
 
Would love to see Bancroft back in the Test arena. From memory, all his games were against high flying England/ South African teams of 3 years ago. He didn't have that easy initiation with West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh etc. Seeing a couple of his Sheffield Shield innings, he's got really good temperament and composure.
 
Selectors just get back to basics ,PICK OUR BEST TEAM
This has a bowling attack Cummings ,Starc , Hazelwood ,Lyon and Green or Murphy
and bowl Head more
Batsman Khawaja ,Head , Labuschange ,Smith , Handscomb ,Carey
Assuming Warner not fit and Renshaw ( no thanks )
Coaches stop all the cross bat shots at balls on the stumps and use your feet
If Warner fit try him at 4 or 5 he's not opening well

Someone has to take the blame for sandpaper gate. easy to blame the young fella.....

I get all that and overall it’s reasonable comment but they lost 8/23 or something ridiculous in that second innings. No decent test side should do that. If we got rolled for 200 and they chased it down, fair enough.

I’m not sure you can even count Renshaw as an opener. He didn’t even open when Warner was unavailable. We need to start having more youth tours over there.

Yes there are some who let their personal grudges feed into bizarre and deranged conspiracy theories.

Ashes starts 16th of June.
2 tests v India, 3 ODI v India. IPL then Test championship if Aus qualify, all before the ashes.

Two pathetic second innings efforts and a poor first innings in the first Test.

An inability to finish the tail off for cheap as well. Put in the hard yards taking out the top and middle order and completely bottle it at the end.
