If we were willing to pay Moses $1.2m to $1.4m in the cap surely we could get Welsby, Dodd or Williams on ~$800k and have up to another ~$600k for a transfer fee. Plus we preserve salary cap given transfer fees aren’t counted in the cap.

The 600k doesn’t come out of the cap if its a transfer fee and would need to be used on a player as part of the cap

It’s an option but club does have plans for Conti so it expect if a half does come in it would be an experienced half not a rookie

But all our young halves are currently 15, and 4 years away from first grade!
We currently have no decent half prospects at NSW Cup, jersey Flegg or SG ball Level!! None.
We simply must sign a young half who might be ready to fill in next season if Brooks can't get better.
Give Brooks a one year extension, with a club option for another 2 and let's see how he does. He's done bugger all for years now and we simply cannot put all our eggs in one basket when that basket has already been smashed to smithereens on multiple occasions!

RTS must be the clubs next target. Worth every cent of $1.4m and is exactly the type of player the club needs

Not a chance in hell. Offer him 2 years at a million, club option for a third year. And that's the highest we should go

So our next focus is for us to beat Parra at Easter and the Players will want to show him what he has turned down.. IMO I think Moses made the wrong call as they are heading down, and we are heading upwards.
Time will tell but stoked with the overall off season for a wooden spooner club..

There won't be 1.4 mil. Brooks is off contract end of this year - i would imagine the 2 year extension will be at a lower rate than what he is on but you would have to think it will be around 800k.

we can't win a comp with Brooks and AD as the halves though unless we signed a welsby to play fullback.

As I said? The only difference being is the total spend would be higher for a UK player than just paying Moses because you’d be spending the same ~$1.3m (or whatever) in the cap (likely on multiple players) plus the transfer fee outside the cap.

So we missed the Tanker for me I think we dodged a bullet, our cap won’t be tied up with his inflated contract, so with his money I would be on a plane to visit G.Williams with the idea of coming over next year to play with his mate Bateman again, our good juniors are 4-5 years away from grade there is no way I could put up with Brooks for that long if he doesn’t fire with the forwards we got he never will. Time for him to step up or pack his bags

Fair enough. I’d offer LB 600 max unless he starts the year on a tear . Saving up to half a million on what he’s on now. We must have wiggle room if we had 1.4 for Moses and intended to keep Brooks. There’s gotta be money for a huge star if one actually will give the club a chance.

Is he really worth that ? What about AD ? The average salary is 370k.
