Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Brooks will probably cost 800k or 850k question is if you want a shorter contract e.g 2 years you probably have to pay slightly more.
Hopefully Sheens can renegotiate and front load the Brooks extension and maybe give Bula an upgrade or James or something
Mate it wouldn't matter as the Brooks' bashers would invent some unrealistically high or low figure just to bash him over the head with.

Just a few more invented "Facts"!!

Remember when everyone else left in 2017 and Brooks stayed for an extra 2 years Until 2019
For 550k? - Whilst Moses went to Parra for 750k and won the spoon?

2018 was the first year of his new contract... Not contract year at all!!
- He was upgraded and extended at the end of 2018 (After winning the Dally M) Because he was open for negotiation to sign for 2020.
Often wonder how many of his detractors were happy to let him sign elsewhere at the end of that year?
With Moses leaving and collecting the spoon?
Less than none would be my guess.

Because he'd taken Unders when we were in trouble in 18/19 with Cleary Buys...
He gets paid now (also conveniently forgotten round these parts)
Good points.

I stand by they'll move him as soon as it's necessary, Captain or not
- Did it to Pearce, Anasta, - Retired Cordner and Friend...
The thing is, by the time the Roosters cut bait on a player you almost certainly don't want them. Pearce was about the best and he wasn't that flash. Cordner and Friend were busted, and I still feel physically sick when I think of that oxygen thief Anasta drawing a pay cheque from the Tigers while moaning about the facilities and putting in about 7% effort on the park. I can't see them letting Tedesco walk until they're pretty confident he's no longer providing value.

What pisses me off .. and probably most of us on here is that right from the start we all knew that MM was playing us .. then delaying the decision again and again was only a RED flag to us all which only confirmed our doubt from the start .. except the club who were confident that we would land him .. !! MM played all along only to get the most money out .. yes $1.25 is less than our $1.4 .. but there is a lot of third-party money going on in the background with the Parra deal.

What worries me know is .. how asleep have the recruiting management team been during this pull the wool over their eyes trick by MM .. from the start they always said not to worry that they had a plan "B" .. well it's only 2 weeks out from the season start .. so what is this plan "B".. ??

The plan B was extending Doueihi and seeing how he goes, i imagine we had an inkling Moses was likely not coming when we extended AD. I hope we still have irons in the fire for a half elsewhere ie Williams or Welsby, im not overly chuffed with extending Brooks but who else is there? Maybe if its a 2 yr extension with a restructure on this year it could be ok. My beef with Brooks has been for what he delivers it doesnt stack up with the $ he's on. Which is not his fault but if your on marquee $ you should be expecting a better return.
I'd rather see what Brooks can produce in the earlier rounds behind a decent pack but i imagine the club will shit themselves well before that and lock him in.

I don't care what the real number is, my biggest beef is he has had one good season in the 9 he has been in first grade, that is very alarming, and something to look at before locking him in for more seasons hoping for some form reversal.

Given how tight they have been with the negotiations I doubt they will let the cat out of the bag. Plan B is for 24 and there isn't much about so possibly a SL purchase or simply AD and Brooks.

No need to rush - see what the current pairing produce and make decisions from there.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about to be honest. We made a play for Moses and he knocked us back. The world knows we have cash to spend so players will now be keen to engage. Missing out is just one decision point in a journey to build a quality team.

Just something to ponder, Laurie, AD, and Brooks all look like being with the club in 2024. That would easy be over 2 mil of our cap. The money to spare for a top FB or half may not be there. We also will have to increase some players contracts. This will take some serious playing with the figures so we don't end up the mess we had in previous years.

If 1.4million doesn’t get us in a discussion then Pascoe should pack up his desk. That’s where he’s got us to.
Well he'll get that much at lest from the ARU and with the added bonus of travelling to NZ and SA and Europe every year. He'll also note the BIG money in RU in both the UK/Europe and Japan which would make that amount pale in comparison. He'll stay at Easts or go back to rugby - no other club will be in the discussion.

It is also possible that it was a difficult decision for him and he simply chose to stay at Parramatta after a long and complex negotiation process.

Not everything or every outcome that doesn't fall our way is malicious.

Don't need one for this year.

Agree with you apart from the bit about plan b as season only 2 weeks away

MM was for 2024 not this year

We are stuck with what we have for this year no matter what MM decided

I think we'll go well this year. Hopefully make the 8. I see
  • Staines playing very well at FB for most of the year
  • Doehi playing well as 5/8. I can even see him playing some lock, with Laurie moving into 5/8
  • Brooks doing well as halfback
  • Laurie filling in in the halves during injury or when Sheens tries AD in 13.
Wonder if Laurie has trained as 9 at all in the off-season? If he has, he would make a great 14.

Staines seemed more the fullback prospect at 1 to me. He bigger, faster stronger.
