Red flags everywhere with Bateman. Plenty convincing themselves othewise, but 4 years with anything over 500k plus the 250 k transfer has got risk written all over it and one that we seemed to be the only club that thought it was worth taking. Will look forward to be being proved wrong.

He was always going to be underdone mate and I hope it’s just a bit of a story to give him a chance to get fully fit. If it’s a chronic ankle injury then it’s just another classic WT F-up

From what i have been told the figure is close to 750k per year,so 3 million over 4 years plus the 250k transfer.

I would have thought he has had plenty of time to get the ankle looked at while he was awaiting the visa debarcle...He has said he has done plenty of training back home,and now we have him out with a CHRONIC ankle injury...something doesnt add up to me,if I was given an incredible contract back in the NRL I would have had the anckle looked at BEFORE I got here...

Not too concerned if it is just a month. If it’s another Reynolds, Ballin, McQueen, Packer, Matulino, Maumalo debacle, explain to me when do the serious questions get asked? Are we doing any due diligence?

I agree,neither of those players deserve to be listed among those other names because both of them have been very professional in their dealings with the club

Disappointed to hear of a possible niggling injury, as I expected Bateman to be playing on Sunday.

Chairman Lee on SEN calling BS on injury reports on Bateman advised he had scans prior to signing and everything was OK has since has had further scans upon arrival in Australia and all OK.He needs time to acclimatise is a little under done and needs a week prior to taking the field.

People have an interesting memory of Matulino. Only played 36 games for us. Maumalo toughed it out last year but appears we bought another lemon.

Clearly arrived with pretty major pre existing injuries and that’s why I put them in there.

We get an opportunity to show that our competence has improved Sunday.

At this point but James is not available until round 10. James to me offers more to the team for a 20 minute burst than Twal does.

I think Twal is the perfect guy to bring on after 20 minutes to keep our middle tight at the back end of the half. We have had major issues conceding tries either side of half time and he is probably one of our best middle defenders.

It’s one of the toughest sports there is, it would be irresponsible to play him yet.

Correct - Supposed to be pushing 30' on Sunday (Although we play night)
they'll have had 3 training runs and a caps run....
If anything I would have him on the bench, But even then... For limited minutes, And at that would be a stretch.

We've got a good first run of games - All winnable....
I don't think we're at full strength playing Bateman after a week off the plane.

Worth mentioning, He's not coming home from Holidays - He's moved countries...
His last month at home would have been chaos, And highly emotional
- And he'd have been under the hammer all week settling in here.
Just not worth the risk....

Why?
The guy hasn’t done any squad training and been stuck in holding window for weeks. We have him signed for years. He misses a few weeks big deal.

Don’t know why this is really a surprise.

It’s actually logical which is rare for the Wests Tigers I know.

seems a long time for a bloke who could play this week. The sooner you give him minutes the better. 20 or 30.

I would give him 2-4 week’s contact training and then put him into firsts. Pending how he holds up would depend on when he gets on the team sheet.
