OFFICIAL Round 1 Discussion *spoilers*

What a game by Nick Meaney! Couple more games like this and Paps starts at 14 instead of 1 IMO.

In 2021, I actually feel that if Hynes had started at fullback instead of Papenhuyzen, they could've gone back to back.

I like Paps but he takes a while to get going.
 
Thought Brown was very poor last night, seemed to always get the ball flat footed and just generally looked disinterested. Moses wasn't much better but at least attempted to take the game on at points. Parra middle forwards dominated Melbourne and the halves should have been good enough to capitalise.
As usual though Melbourne stay in the game and find a way to win, just an unbelievable sense of self belief in that club, hate the Storm but you have to marvel at what Bellyache has created down there.

Both have been ordinary but Johnson has at least done something on the park.

Hastings totally missed Johnson and grabbed air which lead to a try. Also put in a terrible attacking kick no one had an idea about. His attacking bombs aren’t on the mark also (Johnson kicking has been shocking).

-Johnson last tackle plays suck
-TMM needs to get more involved
-Warriors seem to keep producing crazy wingers


-Hastings potentially broken something related to his ribs. Same stuff he dished up at the tigers touches the ball a lot heaps of talk I noticed for a few sets he was following the ruck just talking between tackles 1-4 and every play was just a one out play.
- on paper this knights team should be up 12+ O’Brien definitely in the race to be sacked with griffin

I don't think knights are that much better on paper. Warriors have good depth. Better than Newcastle and some game breakers as well.

Take Ponga out and the knights don't have much

Sheen's is correct

Hastings is a lock. He only really plays the middle third. Doesn't threaten on the edges and is feeding to Ponga who catches it in a position most half backs would be,, on the edge. Hastings needs to get to the edge and THEN deliver to Ponga

He can only play a middle third half if your speed is electric and can outpace tired forwards.
 
Ponga hasn't handled playing 6 in this game imo

He's been very ineffective in this second half and taken a massive back seat... looks very fatigued too.

As expected, a failed experiment again.
