Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I find it funny to see people bagging the bloke that was in our top 3 players in almost every game he played for WT.

Probably the same people that think it’s Potter’s, JT’s, Maguire’s, Benji’s, and Robbie’s fault that Brooks has only had 1 good season.
The fact that he was top 3 in our club is probably the reason why we have a wooden spoon to show for our 2022 campaign.

the guy is a decent footballer IMO nothing more

Criticism of Hastings is so unfair

Publicly stated he wanted to stay at the club but got pushed out the door so we could get Klemmer a year early

Every time he put a tigers jersey on he tried his very hardest to win the game for us. Unlike a lot of our players last year

Was great at interacting with our the fans

Don’t hate a player juts because our coaching staff didn’t want him here. if he had resigned at this club we all would have been thrilled

Don’t think people hate Hastings & what you said isn’t true either. Think some though just see Hastings playing style benefits differently. He is a good player just over controls things and lacks speed to be very effective is my view.

I hope he does well at the Knights he does give his all and did for us, if most players did the same we wouldn’t have come last. It’s why will watch the Knights this year because I hope he will click with Ponga.

He left because he didn’t want to play in the best position the coaching staff thought for the team which was lock & wanted to be halfback. Knights offered him a halfback spot and significant pay bump as well. He jumped. Him playing lock was happening well before Klemmer talk happened. He didn’t want to play lock. He also jumped within 2 weeks (talks/contract drafted, signed, registered) whilst having 1yr still to go. That’s a very short time for someone who wanted to stay & could’ve. Don’t think for a moment it was all 1 way.

The only way to catch them out is with
a whistle blower you'd have 2 think.
It's an open secret, even the pundits
joke about it, absolute farce that they're
not looked at more forensicly...
I remember John Singleton on the
Matty John's podcast calling chooks
& Politis out about payments a few
years ago. It's infuriating watching
everyone joke about it and then it all
just gets swept to the side 1 minute
later. I can't stand the shifty pricks
and their tiny, smug supporter base lol
Souths signed Mitchell for less after convincing him that “the money would come later”

That’s a very fair assumption I enjoyed reading it

That won't happen. With Miller out the back looking ordinary it's going to be a.long year for the Ol Knights.
[/QUOTE]
I thought Miller went alright. At least he takes dirty hit ups. Pongha plays like he doesn't like the tough stuff and that's why he is targeted. For all his talent - and he has got bucket loads - I can see why playing with him, and coaching
him would be frustrating - especially as he is the player the club has thrown everything at.

Randomly met with a VERY senior rep from the Tigers last night. Apparently the morale out there is the best it has been in 10 years. Said Kent and Rothfield love to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
Not denying you didn’t hear that but this gets churned out every off season around our club . I definitely do feel like there is momentum shift happening in terms of the direction but I’m still hanging out for results first

Fluffy the bunny rabbit appears every year before the season starts.I am not having a go at you as you can only repeat what you have been told.
I need to see consistently good results on the field

He was prepared to play anywhere including lock to get back in the nrl and then as soon as he got another offer in his preferred position he’s gone. I’m disappointed I think him playing lock could’ve worked well for us.

Hastings is the best pointer the game has ever seen.
He points like no man has ever pointed before.
He can't run for sh1t but man can he point.

I just watched St Helens lose to Leeds. It was a better game of football than anything the NRL has dished up so far.
Super League rules!

I was actually thinking this yesterday when watching the game. Hastings just points. He advertises where the next play is going just to sell himself as an organiser. He needs to learn to organise but be inconspicuous as much as possible. I remember Brooks field goal against Souths last year and how obvious Hastings made it known Brooks was kicking. I thought then that this guy is self salesmen.

I like him and hope he goes reasonably well, but I can see how he gets people off side. There is a slight fakeness to him.

I don't see how making salaries public all of a sudden helps the corruption. The public figures would just be the ones presented to the NRL auditors, not the corrupt payments. So everything would line up nicely. It would actually make it easier for clubs to rort because irate fans like us wouldnt have as much to protest about. IMO making them public would take some heat off the clubs and the NRL because fans would be less vocal.
King_sirro, Liltiger and others are 100% correct.

First steps Matter!
When there is no salary cap, people will say we would get around the salary cap. Ofcourse, but the competition is far far fairer.
People say making the salaries public may quell fan anger, not that much. Making salaries public makes it easy to go "hey you are roarting the cap".

People oppose First steps because first steps make the second steps easier.

Make the salaries public and when SBW says he is getting 900k and he publicly has 700k, suddenly the club gets audited.

When dealing with Corruption, Exposure is the best medicine.

Glad the wooden spoon inspires this kind of morale.

I wouldn’t expect a very senior rep of the club to say they’re miserable and don’t even want to turn up tomorrow.
