People say players come back from injury and start straight away, what they don’t factor in is the weeks of body contact that happens before it to be ready. Bateman has had zero body contact he has just been keeping fit in no doubt a hired gym setup. 2-4 weeks isn’t long time.

Bring him back through reserves.

When you consider the value of his contract and the Visa issue and his transfer fee paid , one would wonder how much due diligence was given to his fitness before signing off. Geez if I bought a Ferrari and found I had to park it my garage for six weeks as they forgot to include the wheels I would not have paid for or taken delivery of it till it was ready to roll. My issue is that even if a small niggle is only 1% of the reason he is being held back, then the chairman's faux outrage is pathetic, I'm not a huge Sheens fan but I can understand a coach being cagey- a chair should just be silent on these things.
