gives the mind a chance to calm down, reflect and then give an opinion. I guess if you are a glass half full person, you'd probably be thinking "It could have been a lot uglier" - as I did watching the game earlier on. I mean Bulldogs homecoming , huge crowds, the hype had been built leading to the game. Not easy for any team. I think we have a few really good players (Staines and Api, but I also like Naden) and once we learn what support play actually means, we will improve - but it is not going to happen overnight. We scored 3 tries in a blink of an eye - any team that can do this, has to have some ability. In fact, the Belmore crowd seemed quite nervous at one stage, and as a coach, I am sure Ciraldo would not have been impressed. Klemmer has brought back a bit of the mongrel in our pack and if he can keep his coolness, he will give us that go forward that has been missing. And yes, we have our squeaky wheels - but to the extent that the coaching staff will address this, it will be a measure of how well we can do this year.
I don't want to come across as viewing the situation through rose tinted glasses - but I do think we need to remain positive and accept that this is no short term project.

But we've been there since 2005, I hear you say. Well, it took the Swans 72 years between drinks. Hopefully we won't have to wait that long.

To an extent I agree with your post mate. My main concern is the ability of the coaching staff to address (fix) our issues. They haven't been able to address our issues for such a long time that I wonder what actually goes on within our coaching staff.

Either the coaching staff arent coaching the team to todays standards or the players simply dont care, don't take their coaches seriously or just arent listening. Either way, there has to be some accountability somewhere in this club.

This coaching staff and such a long time doest compute.

With the procession of coaches and player turnover, I’m baffled to think it is an issue of player attitude or coaching ability. There were definitely shades of that in the past but it feels to me there is and always has been a culture and front office issue. Whatever it is we don’t seem to be able to fix it season in and season out. At the end of the day, the players need to be united, train and play for each other.

There's no everyone wins a prize in the NRl. Without some wins brought about by change for non-performers, we will never change the mental attitude of this lot.
It's clear there are some really putting in but if the ones who can't execute aren't replaced it won't be long before everyone drops their heads and starts thinking there is no point.
Hopefully, the changes that occurred late yesterday will clear things up for the coaching staff.
Douhei to me is a centre - he got nowhere near Burton when he made the bust yesterday.
Brookes get a crack at 5/8.
Wakeham is 7.
Nofo can nofo himself.
I want Tupou on the wing unless Ken is 1,000 percent right.

Once they shifted AD (to get him away from the ball thank god) and got BW on, everything changed for us.
Every attack we did with AD ended up with either a ridiculous pass, intercept or something comical. Bulldogs ran down his side all day and that's how they got us. They didn't run harder than us, outsmart us or anything, we beat ourselves.
AD killed all of our attacks

Well... For 15 minutes or so I got excited with our footy, for the first time since July Bris. last year.

Gives us some hope... Maybe gives the coaches some breathing space from the media.

Fifteen minutes.. Can't ask for more than that
I'm hearing you. Our attack was immense for that 15 minute period.

I am still hopeful that we have the squad to be competitive this year. I have my fingers crossed that Sheens & Benji have the guts to make some tough decisions on who gets to play 1, 6 and 7 this year

Halves:
Laurie can't be our long term fullback. Staines showed a lot more promise in attack, but is unlikely to nail this position because he isn't vocal enough. Sheens' latest comments indicate that he will move Doueihi to 1, Staines back to the wing and Noffa reserve grade. I don't think Doueihi is mobile enough to play 1, so I am hoping that Bula is ready for Rd 11.
Doueihi is our new Moses Mbye. I hope they don't sign this guy for 4 years. He wants to play 6, but isnt good enough to play 6. We move to him centre, and he will be found out defensively. We move him to fullback, and he will be found out once again. Brooks and Doueihi are both running halves, and so it's either one or the other
Wakeham deserves a shot at 7. We've played our best when he is on the field. The lack of organising half shows how critical the Mitchell Moses recruitment is. As other posters have mentioned, if we had Mitchell in 2023, we are definitely 3-0 and not 0-3.

Backs:
Naden plays with plenty of heart and came up with several big plays yesterday. He does have a short fuse when the team he is playing for is on the back foot, tries too hard and gives away penalties. I still would rather a team of Nadens, lifting the energy up and constantly trying to win the game.

Staines also competes hard and can take a tackle. He constantly looks for work and I think he deserves to be in the side.

Noffa needs to go. His attitude is not great, and his work rate is just not as good as others in the team. Junior Tupou and Staines/Maumalo
