Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Agree. He'd be a good 6 to have, but we have to solve this halfback problem and it's an expensive problem to fix.

$1M on Wighton doesn't seem the right investment for our team.
Wighton came through as a fullback would love to play him there for the Tiger's

I seem to adjust who I would like to target each day and today it is (bolded my preferences):

PRIORITY 1 HALFBACK
George Williams or Lewis Dodd or Aidan Sezer

PRIORITY 1 FULLBACK
Jack Welsby or Jayden Campbell or Connor Tracey or Nick Meaney

PRIORITY 2 FIVE-EIGHTH (WHO CAN COMPLEMENT THE NEW HALF)
Kaeoi Weekes or Blake Taafe or Connor Tracey

The more I think about it and read, I don't think RTS or Wighton would consider us.
Don’t want either of RTS or wighton , the ones u named before all have are better options

Wonder if clubs have already started sniffing around and Dodds club know he's leaving, hopefully we're one of the clubs offering him top dollar.

I’d take Lewis Dodd in a heartbeat.

Has already won a Super League Grand Final and a World Club Challenge at 21 years old.

He’s not the finished product either, as he’s so young.

Will only get better in the years to come.
Lewis Dodd has signed with SFX same management as Ciraldo, Dodd will end up replacing Kyle Flannagan at dogs for around 650k - 700k a year

The one I would sell the farm for is Tom Dearden, I know that doesn't solve our problems now but you sign him up in November and do anything you can to get him here next year. Would be tough to pry him away from QLD but stranger things have happened...

Really? Great competitor but seriously lacks creativity and organisation. I don't think he is what we are in dire need of. Decent 5/8 with an organising 7 and creative ball playing fullback, but without that I see him as a lock.

The vast majority of people commenting on Lewis Dodd or putting his name forward, I would assume, have seen him play 1 game of football in the World Club Challenge. He did a reasonably good job.

Let's not forget, he is 21 year old, has played some half, but some hooker also, is coming off a ruptured achilles, and has played 34 games of Super League in total.

The hype train in this place at times is so hilarious it's almost concerning.

Pump thy brakes, folks. Goodness me.

Sounds like Lewis Dodd is keen to play NRL and St Helens is resigned to the fact he'll likely ask for a release.

“Lewis is a great young lad and like any player does, he has the right to sign with any manager or agency as they want,’ Wellens told Love Rugby League.

“We respect those decisions, and Lewis is with us in 2023 and is contracted for 2024.

“We’ll obviously do all we can as a club to try and keep him here. He’s a player we love and value and we feel he is instrumental to our continued success.

“But also, Lewis is a grown adult who can make decisions for himself. What I do know with Lewis and his relationship with the club is that it’s a respectful one.

“So any conversations that happen, whether that’s now or three months, six or 12, they’ll be done in the right way.

“There’s nothing more to really add on the matter.”
Get it done lads.

No chance.
They have their halves sorted for the next few years at least.

Such a baseless comment too. As if agents only have clients at one club... 🤣🤣
SFX manages
Wayne Bennett
Ivan cleary
Des Hasler
James Webster

Dodd will partner Burton in halves direct replacement for Kyle flannagan

My priority recruitment targets in terms of needs & value for our team are

1. George Williams
2. Jack Welsby
3. Jayden Campbell (only if Welsby falls through, Brent Read believes he has a get out clause in his contract this season if he doesn't hit a minimum number of matches by a certain round)
4. Lewis Dodd (only if Williams falls through)
5. Aidan Sezer (only if Williams & Dodd fall through)
6. Blake Taafe
7. Kaeoi Weekes (only if Taafe falls through)
8. Connor Tracey
9. Nick Meaney (if other fullback options fall through)
10. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (yes, a 1-year deal for the enforcer/impact/leadership qualities he brings, a kind of Scott Sattler 2004 signing)

Plus didnt Brodie Croft win halfback of the year + Man of Steel 2022? Is Dodd really really better?

Sign Lewis Dodd (halfback). George Williams (5/8). Semi Radradra(wing). Thomas Jenkins(centre). Kayal Iro (fullback). If WT cannot sign Radradra then Kaeo Weekes or Luke Metcalf for fullback then Jenkins to wing and Iro to centre. Just my wishlist.
Agreed. Take a leaf from the dolphins. no real out and out superstar - just tradesman like solid experience with young& keen - a few months back most people were writing them off......

He did win Man of Steel Brodie Croft not sure about halfback of the year though. As for Dodd only one way to find out if a team is willing to take a chance on him.
