Commemorative jersey

If all this comes out in the wash and it is proven that the club lied about discussing the jersey with the defence force, then someone has to go....fingers crossed it's Pascoe but unfortunately it will be some poor behind the scenes battler....
Fair dinkum this place gets more comical.

while the selection of the image was a forgiveable offence, what has happened in the hours that have followed is not.

just a reminder:

- we released a statement effectively pointing the finger at Holsworthy and the ADF
- our players were sent out to explain the mistake
- 6:30 rolls around and it turns out Kent has made calls to the ADF who have claimed there was no involvement
- there has been complete and utter radio silence from our typically chirpy CEO and Chairman

I've defended Pascoe from time to time but this is deplorable. I can forgive onfield results and the performances of players, but this coupled with being on his phone at half time speaks to the character he is. he must go.

I am a 35 year veteran and questioned the design when I first saw it; however, when the club stated that they had engaged with Army and mentioned Holsworthy, I was OK with it as I assumed that the images were of special forces soldiers using non standard equipment. Not the route I would have taken; however, I also assumed that it was approved by Defence PR.

ANZAC Day for a returned sailor, soldier or airman/women is personal. The personal emotion reflects their deployed experiences. Some experience loss, grief and detachment - others not so much. Soldiers don't expect the public to understand, nor do they seek recognition for their service or glorification of the events that they experienced. It is simply about a bond with fellow service personnel; both living and dead.

To find that WT have blatantly lied about this incident is, to me, beyond appalling. It may not be that way for you and that is OK. That is the right you have because of the sacrifice of others.

The ANZAC tradition is about loyalty, courage, sacrifice and mateship. Our CEO and Chairman have demonstrated by their actions that they seriously lack loyalty to the players, club and fans, moral courage and do not have the intestinal fortitude to make the hard right decision. They have demonstrated an ineptness in handling this matter that is beyond belief.

Will our CEO, Chairman or the board have the courage to do the right thing?

Great post. Explained perfectly.

Eagerly Awaiting the new Marvel jumper.
Hope they don't use a DC character🫣
You wouldn’t put anything past these morons currently.
I wouldn’t be surprised if some brainiac at HQ has come up with the idea to have these special event rounds sponsored. I can picture them all excitedly locking in:
Rookwood Cemetry for ANZAC Round,
Centrelink for Indigenous Round,
Tesla for Retro Round and
Only Fans for Women in League Round.

Fair enough. I know your background and I've got a few mates who are ex army (none in the navy funnily enough 🤣)
On a personal level I don't attach much significance to it as it did get approved by the NRL and was a collab with a defence unit.
But I'll back you in the fact that you find it offensive to the diggers.
Shows a lack of compassion I guess, an important part of our history just treated with disregard.
Can't expect rainbows from this mob can we?
All it shows is that a graphic designer didn’t do his job properly.
Probably a kid.
Seems nobody, from the Defence Force (if that’s to be believed), the Tigers or the NRL thought to check they grabbed an Australian pic.
I would think this would have to be approved at a higher level than the club.

It’s a cock up for sure and a half arsed cover up if true.
It shouldn’t be that hard to get right but with amount of media scrutiny I don’t know why clubs bother.

i guess shows like 360 and reporters don’t have much else to talk about given most off them lack real football knowledge it’s all headline/click chasing stuff

It's ANZAC Day round, which stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. ANZAC Day is a commemoration of the anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand troops at Gallipoli.

Calling it a commemoration jersey is still off the mark.

Saying it was authorized by someone at Holsworthy is off the mark to. Was it one of the civvy staff? Department of Veterans Affairs have to authorize ANZAC day materials, not an unnamed person at a base.

If I was Brydens I would be telling them to trash the jersey, it's an embarrassment to them to have their name over the image.
