Will Lankshear scored a second-half double for Middlesbrough as they fought back to beat Lincoln City 2-1 on what was the Imps' first game in England's second tier for 65 years.

Adam Reach had put the Imps ahead with a well-placed finish against the club where he started his career, while a string of fine saves from George Wickens kept the visitors ahead until Lankshear pounced in the 62nd minute.

The summer arrival from Tottenham did well to divert the ball home from close range for the leveller.

And the 21-year-old went on to make it three goals in his first two games for his new club, coming up with a stoppage-time winner having hit the post just minutes earlier.

Millwall got their Championship campaign off to an impressive start with a dominant 2-0 win at 10-man Bristol City.

Referee Lewis Smith was at the centre of the action in the first period as he booked Millwall's Josh Coburn for a dive rather than give a penalty before sending off Bristol City's Adam Randell for a second booking in the 36th minute.

With an extra player, Millwall struck as Coburn converted from close range shortly before the interval.

New Bristol City boss Michael Skubala's first league game at Ashton Gate got worse as Millwall commanded the second period. Coburn headed them further ahead before last season's beaten play-off semi-finalists hit the post and spurned a number of other good chances.

Ilias Chair scored twice as QPR tamed Portsmouth 3-1 to record only their second win at Fratton Park in 30 years.

The 28-year-old also assisted for QPR's third goal to show how much he was missed as Rangers' campaign unravelled in the second half of last season when he was out for four months with a calf problem.

Portsmouth have big hopes of progressing in their third season in the Championship and took a deserved lead through Terry Devlin's fantastic strike.

But QPR clinically punished them on the break as Chair netted his first goals since November either side of a strike by Koki Saito.

  • Max Kilman heads West Ham in front from a Jarrod Bowen corner
  • Manor Solomon doubles lead with a goal on his debut
  • Zian Flemming pulls a goal back from the penalty spot with seven minutes remaining.
  • Flemming equalises in the 92nd minute after Hammers fail to clear a corner.

Zian Flemming scored two late goals - including a 92nd-minute equaliser - as Burnley came back from 2-0 down to snatch a point against West Ham in Nicky Hayen's first Championship match as Clarets boss.

The Hammers seemed on course for victory when Manor Solomon added to Max Kilman's header with 18 minutes remaining at Turf Moor.

But Flemming pulled a goal back from the penalty spot with seven minutes remaining when Ollie Scarles fouled Marcus Edwards in the box.

  • Saints beaten in first Championship fixture since Spygate scandal
  • Iker Bravo opens scoring for Hornets, Amin Nabizada adds second with thrilling solo goal
  • Cyle Larin pulls goal back for Southampton early in the second half

Southampton were beaten in their first Championship match since the Spygate scandal, as Watford got off to a winning start under new boss Alessio Dionisi.

The hosts struck twice in the opening half an hour at Vicarage Road, as Iker Bravo profited from Jack Stephens' misplaced pass to open the scoring, before Amin Nabizada added a second with a fine solo effort.

Cyle Larin pulled a goal back just before the hour mark, and that gave the Saints momentum for the rest of the match.

But Watford stood strong - although Taylor Harwood-Bellis missed a fine opportunity to equalise.

It was a very disjointed game for us. I think Watford will be a contender this year.

Having grown up in Glebe and going to games as a kid, I’ve always had a soft spot for APIA. I just wish HBG would focus as much on its primary asset, the Tigers.

For anyone who follows local football, you can go to-

Full games and highlights.
HBG aside - it's great to see these old school clubs still going.

I spent many a Saturday night at Marconi as a kid back in the NSL days.

Always thought it was a bit sad that all those foundation clubs that kept the game alive got shafted when the A League came around.

The likes of Warren, Yankos, and Katholos have ensured we are still world class contenders. Their smarts mean that players we love, like Viduka, Cahill, and Bresciano, are now inspiring the next generation of growth.
