Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I'm tired of this new age where a coach has to individually analyse every player and nurse him along appropriately. At what point do we draw the line in babying these grown men? Laurie had over 2 years being left in one position, that is more then enough nursing.

Laurie will play better in another team purely because every other team is better then ours and its easier to play well in a stronger team. It won't be because he wasn't "man managed" right.

It's time we as a society start putting some ownership on adults to be adults, and take responsibility for themselves.

There are some cases where this "man management" special treatment needs to come in, Laurie's is no such situation, not even close.

These players need to harden up.
Very true but it’s just symptomatic of society in general.
My old coach was a man manager, he used to take me aside and say if you ever make that mistake again I’ll personally beat the living delights out of you !
These days one on one is required , whether us old timers like it or not.

While Trindall is signed to 2025 they did sign young Puru from Panthers into a development contract this year with an upgrade to nrl in 2024 plus Conor Tracey, Daniel Atkinson and Kade Dykes who can play half or fullback as possible halves backup. Given they have just resigned most of their backline then Trindall may be needed to free up space and offer him the opportunity he deserves - looked ready to run a nrl team when he has had the opportunity. He is a great goal kicker, took teams to comps in Flegg and NSW Cup as halfback and has played 40 nrl games at 23 despite being a back up.

^ add this to reasons why we have spent 5+ years in the wilderness.

Coaching and development matters. Your a young Junior, you see a 300k offer from the tigers and a 150k offer from Melbourne. You go to Melbourne to develop, to grow your skills, to hit your peak.

Attitude is key to performance. Wayne Gretsky was a hockey great, they tested his energy and stress levels when playing.... He was as cool as a cucumber! NO sweat and very little elevated heart rate. You watch Nathan Cleary, DCE, Darryn Lockyer (at points).

This is Laurie loosing it emotionally. Some players won't be able to cut it, others can and other can with the right coaching and development. It's huge and the players who come here and don't grow as players are the reason why the club is failing.

True - my worry is more that the only viable halfback we'd be left with is wakeham, and he hasn't really inspired a lot of confidence apart from that 15 min spell a few weeks ago.
I can't see any chance of Brooks not in the team till round 10 if at all till next year, unless we can jag a ballplaying half during this year which I highly doubt

Anyone who thought Melbourne was finished have got it all wrong.
Very disciplined, tough and ruthless. We should never have let Grant go back.
But what a huge, professional call by Bellamy and the Storm, at that time.
We didn’t have a choice in the matter. I wish we could have kept him but it was a loan deal
Edit - Sorry ferret, must have posted at the same time

With all the hype around Suaalii, this kid could be forgotten. I think he’s better than Suaalii as he is much faster. Top 3 GPS nationals for the 100m.
Is an absolute beast - watched him come through the ranks and one the Tigers should try and sign:

We need to think outside the box
Holy crapoly give that kid a jersey, we got no one who can do that.
Amazing what speed can do.
