Luke Brooks #167

Brooksy killing it.
Geez Earl we are having the worst start in the clubs history - yet the forwards performance is better than we have had in years, the stats have got us performing up with the top teams, and the 7 we pushed out who's team plenty had as spoon contenders are on 7 points while we are 0. Mate I think you have crossed over to the twilight zone.

I'll post a bit more seriously here. The anti-Brooks BS is so over the top Brooks is absolutely a billion times better than what gets posted on here.

The first problem has been our spine. No doubt. Brooks has had 2 say 20 minute periods of cocking it up. One of those periods was though in his first game when he was underdone. I don't think they should have played him but they did. He has actually been pretty good apart from those periods and he has been building. He has been the best performer out of our 1, 6 and 7. Api has been better but he has been great.

Staines should have been in the fullback much earlier and it was obvious. He played great there last weekend.

Brooks last game also showed that he can pull off superb passes. He can actually ball play. It was fantastic to see,

When it comes to the forwards they have been getting us up the field as have our outside backs but they haven't been making busts and creating much apart from Bateman. IP has been pretty good. Blore had a good half game. Our middle forwards haven't been getting good offloads, quick play the balls or making busts.

I'd prefer Hastings here for sure but not at the expense of Brooks. I've never seen Hastings put on a performance like Brooks did last weekend. I accept they are different players. Hastings would be a great foil for Brooks but his long kicking game is poor.

Go see Newcastles position on the ladder & then look at ours Earl. Agree Brooks had a good game on Monday but other then that game he's been really poor, pretty much anonymous. Our forwards have been doing their jobs I don't see how you can critique them either, our redzone attack has looked diabolical the whole season. That 2nd half on Monday was the first time i've really all seen it click, let's not be singing praises & fairytales after one good half. Still yet to see anything consistent from Brooks this season.

There is a massive difference between being anonymous and being poor. The position on the ladder has as much to do with Brooks as it does with any other player in our team so just replace his name with any player. That is a nonsense argument.

It's good to hear you admit he was good. It's been a while since I've seen a playmaker for the Tigers make those passes and create like that.

Let's see how the rest of the season goes but to me it's clear cut that Brooks has been good for us and that is burning people. Let's hope it continues and some other things go our way and we can improve.

It’s not a nonsense argument Brooks is the halfback & is supposed to be creating try scoring opportunities for his team. We have the worst attack in the comp & that’s a big reason why we are running last, at the end of the day that's on our halves more so than any other players on the team.

Brooks had a good second half on Monday. But that’s the only good half he’s had for us this year. I personally don’t think he has been good for us, his first half performance against Melbourne single handedly cost us that game it was that bad.

Honestly don't think it matters which side of the argument you're on, whether you think he's good or you think he's terrible.

His time here has run out IMO. However unfairly so.

Can't keep waiting for potential, we definitely don't have the keys to unlock it.

It is a nonsense argument. I assume by your response you accept that it's a nonsense argument for every other position other than halfback which already makes the argument really really weak. You have to do that for every team in history. Andrew Johns won two premierships.

It's early days in the season but if Brooksy keeps this up we have some hope.

Just watched those highlights in Singapore for my first view of the match, and based on them we went well, with fullback being our big let down.

Apart from all the tries scored from grubbers, the lack of spacial awareness from the drop out is what almost certainly cost WT their first win of the season.

We would have most of the forum waxing lyrical on Hastings for weeks if he had contributed even half of what Brooks did in those. Perspective.
Clearly highlites paint a very different picture to the whole game

He had a good second half against Cantebury & then produced one of his worst ever performances the next round against Melbourne. Brooks only has one Try Assist to his name, I struggle to see how Brooks has performed well this season. Out of 6 games he’s put together 2 good halves of football. No where near good enough.

I wouldn't bother with him, mate. You're dealing with a guy whose opinion changes with the wind due to a significant lack of spine and conviction. He's also a blatant liar so he fits right in with the rest of the Brooks clan.

This is a better argument because it's a subjective assessment on his performance without the nonsensical arguments.

I don't see it the way you do though. The try assist stat is dodgy as well. He was a key component of all 3 tries we scored this weekend and he has set up more opportunities than that this year. Bateman, Brooks and Api are the guys creating for us out there. They can hold their heads up. So can Staines.

I've watched every minute this season. He is going good.

Let's watch it again. I'm assuming that a bunch of you missed it because you aren't talking sense. Pure class.

I told you 2 days ago Earl is just trolling for attention. He even changed his name and is getting more ridiculous and delusional with every post. Obvious is obvious. Attention seeking behaviours. Hit the ignore.

It will take a whole lot more than Earl parading
a new username to change the opinions on Brooks that have been formed after 9 seasons. Winning at this point is the only option that might sway a few.

Not debating the change, or even the possibility of such on opinions, simply commenting on the few that feel a need to attack him or any other repeatedly.

Anyone can be excused for the occasional hot headedness or such, but not those that continually attack others. It would not be tolerated on here a year or so back, and should not be now either.

Plenty of others will have 1 win in a year tomorrow if we don't get up. Sheens 4 wins in a year and a half as head of football
