I had quite a long drive to work in those days and you could usually tell who was listening to Doug by the laughter and cracking up going on in other cars around you.

Same as Melbourne yesterday. Was interested to hear on the news one protester saying that what they were doing had nothing to do with the collapse of various building companies ?
I was trying to work out why they were separating the issues, or could it be that part of the problem is tradie costs added to raw material prices ?

Newly married, just having a short break from helping people and saving lives. Very, very sad.
I hope the perpetrator is sentenced accordingly for what he’s done and as a signal to other idiots of the consequences of this type of behaviour.
Throw the bloody book at him or anyone else who thinks this is acceptable.
May he RIP with the knowledge that the whole of Australia is thinking of him and his bride.

Another sad story is the death of “Jim” Beaumont, father of the 3 children who disappeared at Glenelg Beach, Adelaide 57 years ago.
That poor guy, and the children’s mother who died in 2019, endured a lifetime of distress in not knowing who took their kids and what happened to them.
Talk about an empty shell, the poor guy, age 97, lived in the hope that something would turn up, but it never did.
May he RIP.

Seems the murderer was diagnosed with mental health issues in 2021 but had never taken any medication. Another ticking time bomb ! So what happens, he stabs this poor paramedic guy 50 times !
So what is the answer, life in jail(unlikely) or a mental health facility. Do the crime do the time. But is that the root cause, or do we need a complete review of the mental health system. Definitely ,yes, but who is going to initiate it? Albo, no, he’s got other priorities, Minns, no, not me.
How many of these ticking time bombs are out there ? We keep reading about these tragedies all the time. What can we do to reduce these senseless deaths ?

Not much you can do to get these people to take their medication.
He must receive the most severe punishment as a warning to others though.
He didn’t cause the problem, but his laziness exacerbated it and his actions are extremely unforgiveable. In some countries, they’d deem him worthless moving forward and just shoot him.

Who's going to initiate it? You. Between Albo and Dutton, I see one man who will do 'something' the other who will attack that something. 'Minns' ? Between Minns and whoever replaces Dominic Perotet?? Honestly ANYONE KNOW? Seriously? The Greens? Minors? It's on some of their radars...
What I do know is this. You make it an issue and it will get attention. Jeff Kennett wasn't a good premiere IMHO but post government his lobbying with Beyond blue was outstanding. A part of this is the realisation that Capitalism requires rational actors. i.e. you are sane, so you make sane decisions.... well insane make insane decisions. So Kennett pushed Beyond blue and Beyond Blue pushed for 10x free Psych consultations.
^both parties have clawed this back a little. It's up to YOU to keep the pressure on.
Personally Nursing homes I see as the NR1 issue. The removal of mandatory RN's is a disgrace. The absolute HELL that Nurses have had to go through pre covid is enough. Post covid it is horrible. Nurses is an easy solution, better pay, more staff, more hours. Mental health, CRAZY hard.
Look don't cheerlead, don't think your Party A is better then party B. Keep the party/political out of it. We read and have brains and we can judge that. Instead get some fire and call up your local member. Give them an "ear Bash".

The sickening thing is that media driven public perception of Hanson is that she talks like this all the time. She doesn’t.
However, we now have an elected senator who DOES talk like this…all the time…and the silence is deafening.
If you are going to present yourself as an anti racism crusader, then you have to call it out whenever and wherever it occurs. Where are all these crusaders when this despicable woman says these things publicly?
