Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Ronald Volkman would be an ideal halfback signing atm & is a great goalkicker which just adds to his importance.

With risk of being shot down for this suggestion, what about a Papalii for Volkman trade???

Yes Isaiah is of higher value but we have a plethora of backrowers for depth and it would be an easier position for us to recruit. However it is very very difficult to recruit a good halfback and this kid looks to have the goods.
No shooting down as the suggestion has been made before but we finally have a decent forward pack let’s build around it, not go backwards and dismantle it. Let’s just do what it takes to get the right 7 here, if that’s Volkman then sell him on playing with Papalii not being swapped with him.

I feel like this forum has been obsessed with Vlokman since he scored a try against our nsw cup side in a trial 3 years ago. Has anyone actually watched him since then? He's like the 5th choice half at the warriors and has been average in nsw cup. Wakeham is a better half then him atm
He looks quick off the mark, but when you watch the weekly highlights of all the Warriors KOE Cup tried, he isn’t directly involved in many of them.
It’s generally their big beasts on the edges doing all the damage.

Blake Taaffe, Daniel Tupou, Braidon Burns, Connor Watson, Hymel Hunt & maybe Kyle Flanagan for next season....

That should add some punch out wide as well as give us cover in the halves.

Talau, Brooks, Wakeham, Laurie moved on.
Love it.

Outstanding.

There you go, fixed it for you.

The Newtown half that played for Italy could be a chance.....

Nothing special but hey, we're desperate.

Why not....
The target changes every 2 days..

Wasn't long ago the 'experts' were telling us Wakeman was a million miles better than Brooks.....
Didn't take him long to prove them wrong.

The cupboard's pretty bare. As I said a few months back, that's why so much hung on the Moses decision, after him, there was nothing on the horizon.

Volkman is worth a look, Hawkins, Sanders, Metcalf, Trindall, all the names that have been mentioned.

Halves are a major problem for us, even THE problem, it has to be fixed, like, yesterday.

Ur mad , we still getting run over in the forwards and u want to give away a gun backrower for a un tested 1/2
Haven't seen us get run over in any game this year. In fact, we have at least held our own in the forwards in every game. It's the backline that isn't working on most occasions. I don't want to weaken the forwards but if it meant getting a reasonable 1/2 instead of he who shall not be named...........

"But there's nobody decent off contract"

Leilua
Matterson
Aloiai
Mikaele

None were off contract, but if you want a player, make a subtle enquiry, offer a substantial amount more than they're on, see if they will agitate to move early. Maybe on the next Ask The Flop, we can ask Pascoe why he doesnt possess this skillset. Maybe after Beryl from Lane Cove asks a pertinent Lanyard question.

Hawkins is a real possibility of being here in 2024, issue is apparently we want him this year and souths will not release him. Kind of think Brooks is really close to being re-signed as a 6.

I agree that its still a better than 50% chance of resigning Brooks.

Regardless of the context around it, it will be a PR disaster if and when it happens. There's no going back from the fanbase on him. It's a divorce that has to stick, whether he's marginally better than other possible options or not, it simply has to end.

Doesn’t really matter who your halves are if your props and hooker do run arounds multiple times a set. By the time the half gets the ball the defence is on top of them.

We need new halves but it’s not going to solve anything until we have a more direct style that works in the NRL.

I see where ur coming from , but the kid is unproven, if he was playing 1st grade more maybe but he is on playing nsw cup . Forwards haven’t busted the line any where I had seen , and we are still getting opened up on the edge , so yes There going all right but still not good enough. I think the whole problem is the coaching staff want to keep brooks and our refusing to look for another 1/2 , and what makes it worse is we have over $1,000,000 in cap space for this year alone 🤔🤔🤔🥴🥴🥴

It was a terrible interview.
Mentions Brooks has been getting better
Says Blore and others needs runs in reggies for fitness but is playing TT.
Says next 2 seasons are all about building for Benji etc.
mentioned coming last last year multiple times
then finishes by saying we should win more than 4 games this year to be better than last year.

It was a wtf interview
Yes, it was a terrible interview with little interest from the journos.
Sheens is talking BS and he knows it.
But he has to appear to be positive.
