Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

This is absolutely crazy idea but Toddies want Brooks before Townsend I would give Toddies a ring asking any chance of a swap this year ...... I would sign Townsend for 24/25 to run the team and kick for goal if possible

What a pathetic statement.

Sheens literally said Bula was super impressive and was putting pressure on Laurie all offseason and was a superstar in the making.

No one even knew who he was until Sheens started telling anyone who would listen about how good this young fullback is
I think he was talked up as a pretty hot prospect when he was at Keebra and with the Titans. Then he just up and left for USA.

Without knowing what everyone else is paid that's impossible to answer.
But it would've been the maximum legal number possible even if that meant having a minimum wage McDonalds worker like Wakeham or Smith outside him for the next couple of years. He would've been the difference maker.
As for team harmony, winning gets you a good load of harmony.
Todd I think he accepted just under what the Tigers offered which was $1.4 mill per year for 4 years.
So my guess is Mitch would have still knocked back $2 mill per season x 4 years even if we had of thrown in an UBER driver for all training sessions and game day x 4 years.

Townsend worked last season because he was parachuted into a good side with additional playmakers who took the full weight of responsibility off his shoulders. Prior to that move many believed he was one bad season away from being kicked into the long grass. This year we've seen a regression to the mean. He'd be one of the last players I'd be looking at for the Tigers. It's not that he's a bad player. I just don't think he's ready to bear the weight of responsibility that would come with turning this team around.

FFS please don’t chase Schuster. He was crap on the weekend and usually is. Lazy, overweight, can’t defend and cannot set up a play.

The problem is Benchie was impressed with his debut and that could influence any decision that is made, for the record i don't think much of Schuster either

problem with that trade is 2024 Brooks is free to go wherever doesn't have to be St Helens so straight away that trade combo looks incredibly anorexic
We're in the business of winning titles. We have no room for a reclamation project. Besides, we've got another group of outstanding young players in the reserves. Maybe better than Dodd and Welsby. Thanks, but no thanks.

I fear we’re at the beggars can’t be choosers category now though

Still take him over brooks any day of the week.

100%. He was terrible on the weekend. Basically single handedly got us back in the game dropping the ball trying to kick it, dropping a cross field kick, then a terrible shoulder grab to let Toa brush him off and score.

I disagree a little. I have always said the Cowboys were a myth and won't do anything with that halves pairing. They got lucky last year because Drinkwater had an incredible season and carried the creativity. Townsend and Dearden was never going to work long term. However, Townsend and a creative 6 would work.

1.Bula
6.Metcalf
7.Townsend
9.Korisiou

Could work.

I agree to a point we can't buy our way out if this, players will not come we will need to rely on our juniors much like 2004/2005.
Can we unearth the next Robbie or benji ? we probably have it in Da Silva at least so that is a start hopefully next year we blood him with Api.
