Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Instead of the name, we probably need to focus on the style.

We need a #1 field kicker to steer around the park. We lack a good kicking game badly.

We also need a player that engages the line & creates uncertainty.

Ideally, at least one of them can see WHERE to attack, however, Api possibly fills that role to some degree.

Taaffe fits the second option quite well.

We need a guy that can kick to corners, create repeat sets. Does he have to be Adam Reynolds? Not at this stage. We just need to take more advantage of the possession. Perhaps a double dip at Souths with Hawkins might fit?

It is in these lights that Kyle Flanagan COULD work, if his role is more along the lines of the general field kicker- one of his better abilities.

Then again, for the 'out of left field' suggestion, it could be that Tui Lolohea is actually the best overall fit...

I disagree a little. I have always said the Cowboys were a myth and won't do anything with that halves pairing. They got lucky last year because Drinkwater had an incredible season and carried the creativity. Townsend and Dearden was never going to work long term. However, Townsend and a creative 6 would work.

1.Bula
6.Metcalf
7.Townsend
9.Korisiou

Could work.
Anything without Brooks at 6 or 7 will be a huge help

Taafe would be worth a punt imo. Comes form a winning culture, has a crack, isn't short and more importantly hasn't had 10 years of nada to his credit.

May 1st is when Super League players can negotiate for next season.

Sezar, Pearce and Lolohea are all off contract.

Pearce turned us down while under contract. What about out of contract?

I don't want to get into the politics BS, just the fact that Fox had to settle for consistently airing (what they knew to be lies) on TV.

One of worst of those lying talking heads has since been removed, so good riddance Tucker Carlson, and to any of their representatives here dishing up their crap on WT or other matters.

I like your approach but we need to be rational and logical.

We need a dominant gun half. This is exceptionally hard to go to market and get. The club needs to be doing everything possible to get some options into the club. It needs to be the no 1 target.

The talk about needing a new 6 is nuts. Brooksy is doing this job well this season. He has outplayed several quality halves over the past couple of weeks. If you get him at a good price you renew his contract. If you can't get a good price maybe Laurie at a good price or go to market but this is making the situation harder than it needs to be,

We need a gun fullback. Ideally Staines and Bula compete for that spot over the next couple of seasons and hopefully one of them comes good.

I dont know if I was the only person that thought that winning try as a knock on by Saab, or I am blind freddy, both Bula & Saab went for the ball Saab's hand gets touch on ball then into Bula back into Saab's hands for touchdown.

And big example of Brooksy and others & how they think?? Look at replay of this try with Brains you would figure out you are in the lead and have to at all cost stop Manly from scoring, so when the bomb went to that wing, and knowing how good Saab is with high ball would you not use your defenders to meet Saab as he comes to ground and put him over the sideline, just watch what Brooks and Talou & our other defenders on that wing do.

but Brooksy especially with his experience should have rushed in and been yelling at the others get him out if he gets the ball, thats what would happen in other teams.
But Brooks waits till Saab is on his way to the ground to score, to try and make it look like he made a defensive effort, falls to the ground next to Saab and puts his hand on Saab's back after he had already grounded the bloody thing.

Saab try was bad defending from TT. TT stopped, if he took an extra 2-5mtrs Saab can’t contest and TT was running his line. TT gave up plain and simple.

I do think Sheens/Benji will go all out to sign Pearce as that experienced half for one season for his experience & leadership to a young backline. If Pearce declines, then Townsend or Sezer to fit that profile.

This person will also be part of the sell for a young half to join for a season as 5/8 or as a lower grade halfback then to take over as half in '25.

I think the target list could be (in order):

Priority 1 - 1 of Ronald Volkman, Jayden Sullivan or Lewis Dodd (if we can somehow jag them from their contracts)
Priority 2 - Ethan Sanders or similar gun Jersey Flegg halfback

If we go down the path of Priority 2, then we look to a 'culture' player as 5/8 in '24 and beyond - Connor Tracey or Blake Taafe type.
