Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If we’re talking a pie eating comp I’d want Shuster. I’m conflicted if it’s 5/8th. Some major red flags as many have highlighted but the X factor side is appealing. Wonder how many tries he’d let in through lack of effort vs tries created?

Would still be better off than AD at 5/8th if that was the barometer.

Here's a suggestion on what NOT to do that is hire Josh Shuster
Last year he was over weight un fit and kept dropping the ball
This year after getting fitter in the off season he's gone back to putting on weight being lazy and Manly won't even pick him .He's on 800 k and complete waste on Manly cap space
With the hiring of Scott Fulton who is a top notch recruiter the temptation will be there
Please no unfit underperformers

Not sure he's dropped, he's injured. Calf injury early now a quad injury.

Sure he's probably a bit lazy and maybe not rehabbing like a seasoned pro.
He's also young and has talent oozing of which we lack in spades.

Also hasn't played since "been called out"

Rather give him 800k then AD as there is so much more upside

ps. last year everyone was orgasming to get him here. Had a injury affected year and a few bad games and all of a sudden considered cancer.

My one cent anyway
Newcastle legend Andrew Johns recalled a conversation with Schuster that indicated he had been told his discipline needed to improve.

Joey's sadness for superstars that were denied the 'ultimate prize': Immortal Behaviour - Ep06
"I think we can all see Josh's talent. I spoke to him last week … and I hit him between the eyes," Johns said on Wide World of Sports' Immortal Behaviour.

"I said, 'mate, everyone can see you're one of the most naturally talented players. But there's a long list of players with natural talent who didn't make it because they haven't reached their potential because they haven't worked enough'.

"And he actually said, 'I get told that all the time. It doesn't hurt'."
Johns said Schuster had disclosed a battle with his weight that he hadn't yet got on top of.
Still overweight, Not putting in the Work - And doesn't affect him when he's being told....

He has no future in the Halves - And we have back rowers coming through up to Wahzoo....
Kid can play - But we're sorted for Back Rowers for the forseable future, He's got a poor attitude, Too expensive and won't look after himself.

And there's plenty of people that don't want him, Have never wanted him....
At plenty of clubs.

I remember all the same rubbish on here about Latrell being fat and lazy.
Schuster's a Latrell level talent.
He can do things our blokes have wet dreams about being able to do.

For 20 minutes a game....
Might hide it in a team full of Souths or Roosters players - With Coaches like Bennett, Robbo or Bellamy...

We're lacking all those things....

He’s 21 every 1 ses and does stupid things when they are 21

2 years ago he played a season in backrow
And was a standout player for manly.
Do you know how tough you have to be to play backrow in the nrl he did it at 19 in a top 4 team

The skill is there the commitment is there he missed the World Cup to focus on been the best he can be for manly

He’s currently injured that’s why he isn’t playing to his potential

If you get a chance to sign a generational talent you take it then make sure you do everything to get the best out of him

Playing under his idol (benji Marshall) will give him all the motivation he needs to succeed

Talented, yeah, extremely, but I just don't see Schuster being as committed as say Bryce Cartwright in turning it around, and he took years to do so.

I would rather pay Doueihi $600k to watch players run past him to score tries, than paying Schuster an additional $200k to do the same.

Fair enough to your opinion, we have very limited potential at our club.

Feel we could fill the bucket at bit

We need to be looking at singings that can take the club to the next level. Does schuster do that? Happy to be proven wrong but i dont think so. If he went to the Storm he Bellamy would sort him out
Think about the game he played a couple I of weeks back against us, he was useless in both attack and defence, I would not take the risk, he might be good for 4 poss 5 good games a season, but very useless in the other 20, we want players who put there heart & soul into it, and after the last few weeks I think we have a fair few of them at the moment, lets not spoil it.

Well, we are told he wants to play under Benji,
but not sure we are the right place for the heavy discipline required to max this guys potential .
And he’s got some, believe me.

Yeah - We get it....

Very different to playing back row at Manly with Turbo winning the Dally M and scoring tries for fun,
Than it is doing it for the Tigers.
You're also overlooking the part when he's stated he doesn't want to play back row - And was looking to get out of Manly if they re-signed Foran.

We've got Bateman for 4 years, Paps for 3... Which edge do you play him....
Ideally, I think he'd be great in the Middle at Lock...
But if he doesn't wanna play edge, The thought of playing middle will have him in convulsions

And Manly aren't gonna pay half his Salary for him to come to us....
