Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The clowns on NRL 180 said that Scott Fulton was hired without Sheen’s and Benji’s knowledge.
I find that hard to believe, but then we have Pascoe and Lee running the circus.
Wow, that is a huge call, for any organisation, coz it takes the coaches cred away big time.
How can that happen ?

Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission....
McDonnell isn't revered like he used to be and the game moved past him many moons ago.

I think the position should have been filled by someone from the area, Or with a connection to the club...
But anyone is at least on par with Daddy Mac.

Yeah - We get it....

Very different to playing back row at Manly with Turbo winning the Dally M and scoring tries for fun,
Than it is doing it for the Tigers.
You're also overlooking the part when he's stated he doesn't want to play back row - And was looking to get out of Manly if they re-signed Foran.

We've got Bateman for 4 years, Paps for 3... Which edge do you play him....
Ideally, I think he'd be great in the Middle at Lock...
But if he doesn't wanna play edge, The thought of playing middle will have him in convulsions

And Manly aren't gonna pay half his Salary for him to come to us....
I don’t want him at second row I want him to play 5/8 I’m just stating he had the toughness in him to do it so it’s in him

He would get fit real quick with Bellache.

He'd have him out there digging trenches.
Then why should it be different here?
Ask him what he reckons Belly would do to make him get fit, I reckon he’d say digging trenches, then hand him a shovel. When you’ve worn the shovel head off you get the big bonus.

We would be too soft to do that, would probably tell him if he was too tired to train he should have a nap out in the car park.

Fultons strategy for manly by all accounts was to target the best juniors from Western Sydney so most likely has good connections in the area

I don't want him anywhere..over confident,over hyped and overweight.
He will never make it as a 6 with his body shape
Sam Walker better target, but suspect home state will be more attractive.Kid will be SOO after dce and a few extra kilos

Talented, yeah, extremely, but I just don't see Schuster being as committed as say Bryce Cartwright in turning it around, and he took years to do so.

I would rather pay Doueihi $600k to watch players run past him to score tries, than paying Schuster an additional $200k to do the same.
The bloke that Schuster is reminding me of as far as talent and the direction he's headed is Owen Cragie

Craigie was one of the most naturally gifted footy players the game has seen. Unfortunately he couldn't control his weight or temptations outside of footy and never lived up to his promise. Schuster is going the same way
Made the same comparison a week ago. Schuster is a dead set Owen Cragie clone. Sadly he will always be fighting the battle of the bulge.

I think it's way to soon to put a line in schusters career, remember moses suli had way worse issues but has managed to turn it around

Before everyone crucifies Schuster as a wasted talent- think for a second about the 18 months of poor player discipline coming out of that club.

I suspect there's a rot at Manly & the media brush over it.

For those saying Schuster is lazy- this is the same Schuster that was playing great under noted disciplinarian Des Hasler, right? Maybe the issue is more the current coaching staff, who have a habit of creating chaos in the clubs they infect?

Des Hasler, Noel Cleal, Scott Fulton all moved on from the club. Just put some perspective on it. That's like saying Roach, Pearce & Jack or Dorohy, Raudonikis & Donnelly.

Schuster was playing just fine under Des. Now, Josh Alioia is a club spokesman.

I'd take Schuster under Tim Sheens just fine.

In the Tigers search for an 'experienced half' or an 'organising half', I've wondered about the importance of signing a 'name' player of just a guy that fits the mould of what they are looking for.

I'm not convinced that there are significantly talented halves that fit the 'gun rookie' type label available.

And watching guys like Wakeham, Flanagan, Townsend, Te Maire Martin, the half at the Titans, Dearden, Hastings, Gamble etc playing in first grade, and being SOMEWHAT effective....there's a guy I've always thought was pretty underrated & every time he's stepped into first grade, I thought he AT LEAST kept the team competitive.

Matt Frawley from the Raiders.

I just wonder that if a guy that plays within himself, with a very good kicking game, could be the foil to say, Luke Brooks. I've always thought he was a little bit like Aiden Sezar as a player, but without the opportunity.

He just happens to be off contract next season as well, and would hardly break the salary cap. Until a 'boom youngster' becomes available- would a player like Frawley improve the Tigers?
