Tragic death of 34 yo Melbourne jockey Dean Holland today. Six weeks ago won only his second Group One race ( Newmarket) now dead after a race fall at Donald, a remote track in western Victoria.
Married with 4 kids under 5, bloody tragic.
As a regular punter sometimes we forget these guys are human but something like this brings you back to earth with a huge thud. A very dangerous occupation.

Dean rode two of my horses Fuhryk and Five Kingdom in the past, knew his dad pretty well. I do a bit occasionally with HKJC and he was getting close to putting in an application to ride over there too, R.I.P.

Don't the NRL strip convicted rapists of Dally M's? I'm sure they said they did, but they needed to wait until after a conviction to observe natural justice. Although, maybe it is contingent on who the player is and which jersey they wore.

I'm about 51/49% in favour of the Voice referendum getting up, but this goose 'Lidiot' Thorpe as @Winston Churchill called her for good reason, could well tip me the other way.
