Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Hunt was probably just venting/trying a last ditch attempt to save his coach/mate's job. His kids are settled in school, he's getting paid well and can hold his head high on his effort being given to his team. I can't see him leaving the saints, at least not this year. Only thing might be is if a new coach taps him on the shoulder and saints subsidise his wage elsewhere. Then we may be a chance, but so would a few teams like the dogs.

If Hunt/others want out and new coach wants cash to play / doesn’t want them would think a potential mid season move could occur to a club.

Be very interesting how some things unfold over the next few weeks.
not a chance of coming here but dreams are free right
If hunt sat down and watched our games he would know it’s just one thing we need , a creative Half who can do something quick , that him , everything else is pretty close to a top team , our engine room is matching every club , Bulla going ver well , wingers are ok , just a Hunt and. Centre and we go well a, Hunt in our team next to Brooks all season and we win 3 of those games ,
Titans , we looked lost could not finish them
Newcastle , could not finish them ,
Dogs , again lost could not finish them
Eels , again could not finish them
Manly. , again could not finish them
Reason , NO quality half like Hunt , these games I say we win with him in our team , that’s 8 points plus 6 we are on makes us 14 and in the top 6 add a centre and we are finals bound , Round 11 completed , Hunt joins us and we fly up the ladder

would love 7. Hunt 6. Brooks next year but not going to happen.

wait...so is everyone suggesting we offer a 33 yr old a muti-year contract for 1million a season?

Um....ok.
Yeah normally I would say no it’s a retirement signing, but if we are going to wait for Conti, Large, etc then we need someone of quality and experience for about 2 years. I reckon Hunt who is a quality 7, current origin player, and he still wants to make up for that GF he lost at the donkeys, so he won’t tank it out.
The halfback shelf is very bare and if Hunt becomes available he’d be the best half on the shelf that suits our needs. If we could get him this year coz they sacked the coach then I say go for it, offer him an inside the 8 bonus and I’d give him a pay rise to get him here. So my offer to him would be come a play behind this forward pack that is going great for a pay rise and a bonus if we make the 8 this year.
If we can turn our season around somehow we will be a more attractive destination and we will not have to pay overs a much. Then our sell to players for next year is, the forwards are killing it, we’ve got an origin half, and we made the 8, come over and help us get to the gf.

Maybe he wants to win a premiership? Saints absolutely aren't winning one with him there and they're going to be at the bottom for a while - admittedly we've not done much better in recent years but the upside is there. So if Saints are ok with moving him on, don't see why we wouldn't have a shot at getting him. Also it's not like he would have to move homes or schools for his kids - we're still in Sydney as are the Dragons. Maybe he has to drive another 20-30 minutes to training, not a big deal.

Sam McIntyre will join the Cowboys until at least the end of the 2024 season.

Could potentially be named in their 22 this week. Cows still very thin on forwards.

I’d be in 3 years with the our current squad as it stands with brooks on reduced contract moving forward.

Rep player. Dragons best player. He has skill and experience in an area we are lacking.

I was against Reynolds coming for the same reason but look how he transforms that team. Worth the risk. IMO

Would love that, but he's got a contract till 2025, meaning the Dragons will want the $$$ to break it.

SJ will be the smarter option
No chance for SJ IMO.
He is back home settled with his family and his wife play netball in NZ so it would need be a massive long term deal to leave that.
I would like him but unlikely
