I don't know that we can give any credit for Canberra's recent wins to Maguire.
As I understand it his position is that of a club mascot, much like the kid that leads Penrith out each week. He also makes Ricky's coffee and drives the team bus but that's about it

Cleary and Hynes are a completely different scenario, Cleary and his dad run the club, and Hynes just re-signed on a 6 year deal a month ago. Hunt has said many times he doesn’t want the coach sacked, that club is in disarray, so there are no similarities at all with Cleary and Hynes

That leaves trying to go after townsend at cowboys, Sezer in SL or Shuster at Manly. Either way by default Brooks probably gets 2024 and possibly 2025 as the 6 or 7 until Large is ready at 18

Is some said here is 500k or 1M to 1.3M what would you take?

Depends his thoughts on sydney too might not be an inconvenience to him.

we won't pat SJ 1 million to start with, but the SJ this year is lengths better than the Sharks version.
Think we pay a Max of 700k per year and warriors probably pay him 400k or 450k per year so over 2 years he gives up 600k or so.

Exactly mate, our 2 halves are not getting us to the 8, no other team would swap their 7 for Brooks, and no other team would swap their 6 for Wakeham. That is where we are, it’s no use saying we can’t sign them so why even try, that will just give us Brooks and Wakeham again next year, another right off. We need to be asking questions to lots of halves in the hope of signing 2

it won't give you brooks and wakeham for next year. If they get brooks at a decent price they will keep him.
If Brooks takes 450k that leaves plenty to go and make a play at hunt or townsend or even Dodd and money left over for a centre like Koula who I believe is Fulton's big target from Manly (still unsigned by Manly and rugby australia) for 2025.
Don't hinknwe sign SJ.

We should be talking to everyone, Brooks at a cheaper price is still a fail, Brooks at $1 million or $100,000 , it doesn’t matter, he is not the answer.

Yes that’s correct I read it online, he wanted the clause in his upgraded contract but St George wouldn’t allow it.
That doesn’t say that he can’t walk out of the club, because what’s a contract worth theses days.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Gus started sniffing around again.

We can clearly sign top players. Bateman, IP, Klemmer and Api are great examples. If a player isn't off contract though ala Hunt I think the likelihood of signing them is really low.

It's not a matter of putting them down. It's about realistic expectations.

I'd love Hunt or SJ or any decent half to come here.

That sounds right. Players avoid him like the plague. (except superstars like Mbye and the imaginary players that live in his head and ring him every day asking to play for him).
Canberra may need to demote him from club mascot to canteen attendant.

JAC, Latrell, TPJ, Munster, Moses - all players who took less money to join other clubs or stay where they are. If they have other legitimate options they are not going to come here.

SJ is an option because we are the only external club interested and Warriors may not be able to keep him.

Blind Freddy and his deaf cousin Eddie knew Maguire would be gone by the time those blokes arrived.
They basically signed to play for Sheens and anyone else except Maguire as coach.

Nah you're probably right. They were all desperate to join us but we just couldn't afford them.
