That leaves trying to go after townsend at cowboys, Sezer in SL or Shuster at Manly. Either way by default Brooks probably gets 2024 and possibly 2025 as the 6 or 7 until Large is ready at 18

we won't pat SJ 1 million to start with, but the SJ this year is lengths better than the Sharks version.
Think we pay a Max of 700k per year and warriors probably pay him 400k or 450k per year so over 2 years he gives up 600k or so.

it won't give you brooks and wakeham for next year. If they get brooks at a decent price they will keep him.
If Brooks takes 450k that leaves plenty to go and make a play at hunt or townsend or even Dodd and money left over for a centre like Koula who I believe is Fulton's big target from Manly (still unsigned by Manly and rugby australia) for 2025.
Don't hinknwe sign SJ.

Yes that’s correct I read it online, he wanted the clause in his upgraded contract but St George wouldn’t allow it.
That doesn’t say that he can’t walk out of the club, because what’s a contract worth theses days.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Gus started sniffing around again.

We can clearly sign top players. Bateman, IP, Klemmer and Api are great examples. If a player isn't off contract though ala Hunt I think the likelihood of signing them is really low.

It's not a matter of putting them down. It's about realistic expectations.

I'd love Hunt or SJ or any decent half to come here.

Hunt tried to have a clause in his current contract that if Hook got sacked his contract became void. He doesn't want to be there. He's as legitimate a target as SJ

I don't know that we can give any credit for Canberra's recent wins to Maguire.
As I understand it his position is that of a club mascot, much like the kid that leads Penrith out each week. He also makes Ricky's coffee and drives the team bus but that's about it

That sounds right. Players avoid him like the plague. (except superstars like Mbye and the imaginary players that live in his head and ring him every day asking to play for him).
Canberra may need to demote him from club mascot to canteen attendant.

He is no chance of coming here, people need to get that through their heads.

JAC, Latrell, TPJ, Munster, Moses - all players who took less money to join other clubs or stay where they are. If they have other legitimate options they are not going to come here.

SJ is an option because we are the only external club interested and Warriors may not be able to keep him.

There certainly are some fools.
Fools that believe the spin a player was told by his agent to say
Fools who support an ex coach who destroyed our club.
A man who played players busted.
A man who drove players away and prevented players signing.
A man who shattered the confidence of players like Stef, Twal, Noffa etc. who only now are starting to recover.
A man who left the club in such a shattered state that Freebairn, a reserve for reserve grade forward was our starting backrower.
A man who lied about players calling him daily to ask to play for us.
A man who progressively turned our team into a laughing stock.
A man who exclusively signed non talented players.
A man who extended Luke Brooks
A man when given an international team full of stars coached them to failure.
A man who has lost Canberra their best player.
There sure are some fools.
