Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He is being asked to play above his pay grade and level atm. Can’t ask for much more but if he is viewed the answer next season we are stuffed.

Agreed with the proviso if he added some attack to his game he would be fine. The halves are a massive issue but I don't see the talent out there to fix the problem.

If Brooks is signed on a much reduced contract (1-2 years) it’s not the end of the world. Given our salary cap position we probably could still sign an expensive half if one somehow became available. He is signed as contingency and worst case he is one of our starting halves and best case we sign a better option at some stage and he is the backup on a reasonable salary. The Joe O trade this week shows you can also move a contract if we somehow fall on our feet and jag 2 better options in the halves.

The issue is no matter how much overs money we are offering, NO player wants to join us.

Mitchell, Munster, Pearce, Johnson, Moses....

The writing is on the wall....we are viewed as a basket case club any anyone decent shuns us...
Definitely explains why we paid overs for Reynolds and Mbye to get them here. We were desperate then and nothing has changed.

So the Eels are two points ahead of us and looking to strengthen their squad for this season by taking one of our players- best player last season- and we are freeing up cap space for next season! If we don't get something in return what incentive does it give the current squad for the remainder of this season..
You think they would have learned after moving LL last season.

Just finished watching the coach interview with Sheens, looking at the reaction he gave about Brooks being at the Tigers in 2024, he was stunned the reporter didn't know, the reporter had to remind him Brooks contract expires this year. I got the impression Brooks has already been resigned a few months ago. The club were just looking for the right time to announce it.

I’m sure they re-signed him as soon as they knew Moses wasn’t coming.
They had no choice…

Learning seems to be a dirty word among the WT hierarchy

Taking the glass half full approach, a motivated half could look at us as being a good option. Statistically we are pretty good this year with the main problem being we just can’t capitalise from opportunity inside the red zone. Any half who backed themself would see that the opportunity for success is there and the halves (and maybe a strike centre) are the missing link.

The other thing working against signings though is not just the team position but how the Wests Tigers organisation is looked at externally. Wouldn’t be surprised if the brand is the bigger detractor to signings than the team.

Hunt proving he would be the best of the potential options already in this game tonight.

It's funny how Hunt is judged. He has done some great things tonight, but has been horrible on play 5. He isnt "managing" the game well at all. He is having the type of game that Brooks produces.

Yeah good point.
Parra are trying to keep their season alive, and are raiding the ranks of a team lower than them, identifying a weakness….We have raised the white flag on this season.

Worse. I saw him put in a dud kick and a dud pass plus as you state he doesn't control the game at all. If Brooks played like that he would be crucified.

The pass didn't need to be thrown and it led to his winger getting bundled into touch.
