Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Spot on. He doesn't go near the defence.

What is the coaching staff doing about this.

If he doesn't play direct, draw and pass them why is he in the team?

The latest SMH article they mention he is focusing on kicking which has improved. Guess it takes time.

I'm actually impressed with Wakeham. This is a guy who didn't have a contract period pretty close to the season starting.

He goes ok just needs to find his attack.
Think when he pushes things has errors then when simplifying things too conservative.

Needs to add a few more tools in his attack.

Exactly mate. That would suit him better but even then I'd expect him to show some commitment to hard work.

I don't know if he suits our culture now when we have so many guys that appear to have the right attitude.
he probably doesn't but he does have an x factor at 13 it would allow us to run with a pack of
11. Papali
12. Bateman
13. Schuster
put pole on the bench to replace him

Mate - if he had the right attitude he could be anything. Koula would be great for us as well.

if our cards played right and we got releases etc for 2024
1. Bula
2. Nofo
3. to'oa
4. naden
5. tupou
6. Brooks
7. walker / hunt / townsend
13. Schuster
12. Bateman
11. Papali
10. Klemmer
9. Api
8. Stef

Wakeham is void of a the run, draw defence in and pass play that all the 7s are doing these days. Brooks does it better than him.

Find Wakeham likes to sit back in attack. Great defender tho.
Neither of em are the go...

Sadly, this is what we're sticking with.

He is being asked to play above his pay grade and level atm. Can’t ask for much more but if he is viewed the answer next season we are stuffed.

Agreed with the proviso if he added some attack to his game he would be fine. The halves are a massive issue but I don't see the talent out there to fix the problem.

If Brooks is signed on a much reduced contract (1-2 years) it’s not the end of the world. Given our salary cap position we probably could still sign an expensive half if one somehow became available. He is signed as contingency and worst case he is one of our starting halves and best case we sign a better option at some stage and he is the backup on a reasonable salary. The Joe O trade this week shows you can also move a contract if we somehow fall on our feet and jag 2 better options in the halves.
