Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Pascoe is the chief executive: he needs to know about what's going on in every department. A meeting between the CEO and the recruitment manager doesn't say anything about anything. Besides, the club has offices: they could meet any time they wanted, and probably do. This is a total non-story.

You're wrong.

He needs to know what's going on across the organisation, yes sure, agreed. But he is NOT part of teh football department, he has no insights into teh type of players we do or don't want. His only part in recruitment is signing the contract, and potentially helping source Third party deals. That's it. Neither Pascoe or Lee should ever be present at a standard recruitment meeting.
Does the head coach not outline the vision of the organisation? Occasionally, particularly for high profile players, there may occasionally be a need to get the band together as a show of force and answer any additional questions. But in reality both these two have been embarrassed almost every single time they've done ANYTHING footy related! Pascoe would get the low down across department in a meeting with department heads, he should not be attending meetings that don't concern him, that's micromanagement, and a turn off for prospective employees

I see what you’re saying but knowing cash needed & what is at our disposal (both directly and indirectly - 3rd party) becomes a central talking point for key big names to potentially switch. Fulton wouldn’t organize any of the 3rd party/sponsorship offerings.

Reality is people are jumping up and down without any idea about anything tbh.

The statement you quoted isn’t any more wrong than your own.

Maybe it was asked to have our key head honcho’s attend to suggest if you raise xyz amounts then we can talk players moving across.

Maybe it was talking directly a set player

Maybe it was to discuss what was needed to get a quality fedora

Maybe they wanted styling advice from Pascoe

No one knows anything and are jumping to a range of assumptions.

particularly regarding Metcalf. was in the Manly system before going to Cronulla, so there should be a connection there. would be a brilliant pick up. can play 1, 6 or 7 and is very fleet footed. would flourish under our coaching staff.
This is my theory too. Metcalf will drop down the pecking order at the Warriors, I read somewhere recently that Scott Fulton rated him highly as a junior at Manly (may have recruited him initially) and Sheens/Benji witnessed firsthand what a fit Metcalf can do when he carved us up in the pre-season challenge. He's a risk given his injury history but has speed, ball-playing ability & competent goal kicker.

Now 3 try assists in the red zone. Not bad
I admit his first 25 mins was awful and his last 55mins was great but Turbo coming back to form was the main reason Manly won easy
I'm just a little suspicious of Shuster given the number of times he's gone missing in last 12 months .
I could be wrong after all I have been critical of Joffa 's lack of punch last few weeks then he turns in the game of his life against the cows and now I'm pissed off why we are helping Parra with nothing in return ?

Madge / Hartigan era truly was horrific...anyone who gave Laurie 500 last year of his deal should never work in the game again.

For those saying "Laurie is in our best 17"...have you watched State Cup? He has been atrocious. Barely even bothers on kicks, meanders across in cover D, and in attack just does whatever...chip for himself when up 6 late in a game and need field position...

He is a (gifted) park footy player...would be great in a bush league.

Nowhere near NRL level discipline or desire. I doubt gets more than a min from a desperate club...maybe a train and trial.

The fact we knocked back his manager's long term deal for 600 or so should go down as one of the club's best ever moments. Madge and co would have jumped for joy and extended him for years.
From the all stars game and how he plays generally I think there's a spot for him somewhere.

But not worth 500k, not a fullback and right call he is not in first grade.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if the Joe O deal dies without a whimper. Sheens almost said nothing had been set in stone in his post match presser the other night.

Just a risky one with his injury history

Thought Metcalf returned to the Cronulla system from Manly but was original with Cronulla.

they will keep volkman
reckon luke metcalfe could be the one we get he is signed until end of 2024
He was Cronulla originally played under 18s origin at halfback when attending Endeavour Sports high.
Coffs Harbour born though so not sure when he was recruited down to the sharks system.
Anyway injury free he is one hell of a potential player.

It’s great we are starting to show what we are capable of, but no doubt we still need depth in certain positions.
I can’t believe we wouldn’t have signed Jane Arthur instead of Manly, he would have been much more chance of pushing for a regular NRL spot with us.
Likewise Conner Tracey, he would have fitted in at left centre like a glove.
Surely we now get Luke Metcalfe and not lose Joffa for this season.

The one from Bateman to Bula to To'a to Nofa was pretty good as well. I don't like bringing up 2005 all the time but it definitely reminded me of our attack back then.
I like how when Bateman got it he was about to pass it straight on, then realised he was in space, straightened up and drew a defender before passing to create the overlap. Early in the season we just seemed to be running out of space on our shifts, but we are getting better at straightening and drawing to maintain the space out wide.

You not worried about his injury history?
